One day you're young and carefree, and the next you have back pain and a petunia obsession. #gardening
I already liked @govpritzker.illinois.gov, but now that I see he's willing to support heritage preservation, I'm an even bigger fan! Money invested in historic preservation pays back in multitudes!
Many people: yeah let's not waste energy, we shouldn't, pollution and all that.
Also many people: yay look at this action figure I made based on me and this is what ai thinks my dog would look like as a human and ai told me Vikings had horns on helmets!

Today would be a great day to ban members of Congress and their families from trading stocks.
Why bother knowing and interpreting the past, when it feels like no one actually cares about it?
Cory Booker just gave me the answer while I got to watch him live break the record of Strom Thurmond - the man who held the record fighting against the Civil Rights Act of 1957. #history
This is such a difficult time for those of us in cultural resource management. If you're not sure what that is, it's the preservation/conservation of heritage.
There have been multiple times in the last couple of months where I've wanted to throw my hands up and scream "why bother?"
Omg I can't stand them. Glad we agree on that one 🤣
Natalie Imbruglia's Torn. I will never forget 1997. My 11 year old self before the streaming era trying to discover new music, and it was the only song every single radio station played over and over and over again.
We do. We take control. The next few years are going to look like those of us with the means/skills doing research, writing, making it publicly accessible, and holding it together until this nightmare is over.
It's nice to hear it.

Just heard from the editors of the Critical Theories in Dark Tourism volume that its recieved the Alan A. Lew Book Award presented by the American Association of Geographers, and has also been nominated for an International Travel Book Award at the ITB!
"On October 8, 1931, a law went into effect requiring every Italian university professor to sign an oath pledging their loyalty to the government of Benito Mussolini. Out of over 1,200 professors in the country, only 12 refused. All of them were immediately fired." www.chronicle.com/article/what...
They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.
I want to believe it, but it's hard in the midst of having your livelihood and a huge milestone of your career ripped out of your hands like you are disposable. I want to be positive change and pay my mortgage. 🥲
I hate to nitpick, but no one *legally* disturbs Indigenous/Native ancestors without consent today. There are still multiple people in this country who do it knowingly despite the fact that it's against state and federal law.
I love open access. Between this and the incredible work that UCL puts out in Critical Heritage Studies, there is some great work available on making heritage relevant to society.
I don't think people have given up on Bluesky! I think it's the first two. Burnt out and horrified.
The number of times I've had to ask my husband if the cat is dry heaving or if he is gulping water is more than one.
One time I saw this tractor protest in downtown Ljubljana. Honestly I have no idea what it was about specifically, but I believe #farmers were being impacted by government policies.
Omg it's literally Colin Robinson

I also miss John Lewis, but @repnikema.bsky.social is the best successor we could hope for.
a tiny white dog stands on a tile floor and looks up at you. they’re wearing a big plush yellow star around their teensy noggin, like the world’s most congratulatory lion mane. we really needed to see her today.
We've been saving this little pup for when we thought you all might really need a gold star. And, given the current circumstances, here she is. 13/10
I am clinging to silver linings right now - one of which includes just how much content @lindsayagraham.bsky.social has for American Scandal. Easily the best podcast. I can't believe I'll one day hear about our current lived experience through his storytelling.
Oh so, a salary? What money is being saved here? You're basically stealing intellectual labor and then charging more for it.
