I want to thank everyone who came out to today’s hearing on Pause Evictions, Save Lives, an ordinance to temporarily extend the eviction notice period from 30 to 60 days in response to Operation Metro Surge.

Tomorrow we’re taking up Pause Evictions Save Lives, a policy that will temporarily extend pre-eviction notice from 30 to 60 days until August 31st. This will give residents more time to get resources and support so that families can stay together and we can keep people in their homes.

There has been no draw down today. ICE snatched someone off Central Ave out of his car because he looked Latino before then letting him go a couple hours later. They were stopping people in Blaine on highway 65, they were all around Fridley, and were in the parking lot of the St Anthony liquor store

Dear neighbor, I am proud of you and our immigrant residents. Your resiliency, strength, and dedication have led to the announcement that “Operation Metro Surge” will end soon. It’s clear that the commitment of our neighbors made it untenable for ICE and federal agents to continue to operate its occupation of our city and state. This isn’t as a result of capitulation from elected leaders. This victory is yours, but we must not stop until ICE is completely abolished, and no more families are ever separated again. I will forever be thankful to those who patrolled, observed, and supported our community with mutual aid and daily tasks during these horrific times. Our community is full of heroes who will always be remembered as caring and loving. There are no words to show how thankful I am of every single one of you who showed up day in and day out. I hope you’ll join me in continuing to carry the whistle of resistance as our work is not done. I am still asking the community to remain cautious and vigilant until we can confirm what this truly means. This morning Tom Homan announced operation metro surge would end soon. I’ll believe it when I see it. We still need people out and staying vigilant until every last agent is gone and everyone wrongly taken to Texas or anyone else is back home.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

We’re never going to turn our backs on our neighbors and stop exercising our constitutional rights. No amount of meetings with Tom Homan or anyone in the Trump administration will change our community’s resolve.

This only ends when every DHS agent leaves and they no longer exist to terrorize us.

I think one thing people outside Minnesota don't understand is that after Good and Pretti were killed by feds while observing, the most normal people you could imagine have made peace with the fact that they could be next, and they are still out there because they say it's the right thing to do.
