Anyone remember Google UK? Then having to add "UK" to search terms when it was only .com? And are you now having to type "wikipedia" so you don't have to scroll down so far to find it past the AI?

I just watched the last episode this evening. How can I wait for the next season??

We also have a six inch square each month. All squares are optional and members can pick and choose, and add any others from elsewhere to their projects. This isn't a rigid crochet-along - you can approach it as you wish. These are the colours I'm working with this year. 3/3

We have a thread in the group where members can post any squares they've made that aren't in this year's BAMCAL. They go into "the hat" each month and members vote on which one they want to be the Members' Choice square for that month. This is the first one for the year.

I'm taking part in BAMCAL (Block-A-Month-Crochet-A-Long) on Ravelry. The last time I made a full blanket was the 2023 BAMCAL - each year I make some squares and they find homes in other blankets. This is the January Main Square. I love all the versions of the same square. 1/3

A little girl, maybe 3?, got off the bus and said β€œThank you driver, have a lovely day”, and suddenly all of us strangers staring into the void are chatting to one another πŸ™‚

β€œIf you are standing, please hold on tight as we pull away.” Or, indeed, if you are sitting! I don’t know if it’s these electric buses, the lack of gears, or what, but stopping and starting is quite a β€œmoment” these days. #BusCommute #DailyCommute #BusWanker

And thanks again Steve for the heads up πŸ˜ƒ

Today. Offer was Β£49/6 months Worldwide when looking logged out, NOT the Β£88/year I saw a few days ago. HOWEVER, logged in and Googling "ancestry better than half price" finally found the Β£88/year offer - heads up for those yet to do it! Keep looking, it IS there! They don't want you to see it!

Ravelry?

I save lots of clippings from FMP and download them. I’ll take a look and see what other titles they may have. I sometimes encounter them as AI generated hints and look up key words in FMP. 8/10 I find them if UK.

I’ve wondered many times, not just in my own family lines, maybe … This is lovely πŸ™‚

Ugh! AI at its finest.

That’s a good idea. I usually want the military records when I’m doing house histories and they usually don’t get revisited after delivery. There’s not much I want for my own tree. I get Newspapers with FindMyPast.

One to think about for the future. I'm still not sure All Access will be worth the extra to me just now but it does keep nagging me (whether I need it or not 😁).

Absolutely. I don't doubt the stories are true(ish), just the origin of the saying ... 😊 I love how we chuckle at people like this when in reality we'd want nothing to do with them πŸ˜‚

Not sure this is actually true, but it's fun. I like it. Happy New Year 😊

I've done it! Marked my calendar to rejoin after the 4th when it expires. Synced main and current trees to FTMaker.

Great, thank you 😊

OK I've found the deal. As I'm never logged out of Ancestry, I think that's why I couldn't see it - they were hiding it from me 😁 My renewal is 4th Jan so I'm going to cancel today (wow this feels weird, I've been subscribing since forever!). Has your cancellation processed yet Steve?

Does All Access "family" plan allow you to add other users?

I can't remember why I have an aversion to the USA site and stick firmly with the UK site. Some kind of funcitonality or other irritation I expect (maybe it's the defaults, maybe *it* gets confused by my UK account). I will have to investigate futher. Thanks 😊

I've worked out I can make 7 normal years (one for each day of the week as Jan 1st) and 7 leap years - they will be all I'll need. It just so happens that the one I made first was 1903 - that year, and 2026, begin on a Thurs. Here's a 1917 original. #calendar2026 #KellysDirectories #LocalHistory 2/2

Happy New Year!

I've spent many hours trawling through Kelly's Directories over the years and become quite fond of their cheap (and often tatty) pages. Many have their calendars intact. This is my take on them and I'm planning more. #calendar2026 #KellysDirectories #LocalHistory #HappyNewYear 1/2

Also ... just promoting them and spreading their word can help - reposting their socials, commenting, etc.

Yes! It needn't take up too much of your time. I volunteer for a Repair CafΓ© and Library of Things (where you can borrow things like drills, ladders, tents, food mixers ...) by doing some occasional photography and design work. Easy to fit in while working full-time, and dear to my heart.

Ah, I was thinking about 'All Access' membership being 6 months. I've been toying with the idea of going for that but it looks like there's no Fold 3 with it. It gets confusing when it keeps flipping between .co.uk and .com when I'm searching for info. Tut.
