Last week saturday, I had the privilege of speaking at the PyHo August Meetup in Ho, Ghana, on the theme: “Open Source Contributions and Collaborative Workflows.”
As the team prepare for Hacktoberfest 2025; the upcoming Build. Break. Innovate (Hackathon in October).

Took some time out yesterday to hike with @trey.io to a community art project. If anyone at #PyConUS is looking for unusual things to do and is headed to the Mattress Factory, it’s called Randyland 👀
Regardless, I and others deserve enough respect to try to rise to any occasion in front of them. If we cross paths at PyCon and you're happy people like me are here, please tell me.
As I bring new people in behind and beside me, I want to introduce them to the Python community I know.
When you see a Black person in open source spaces, they earned it. Period.
My XP is deeper and more varied than you think, my track record is formidable & my networking (friend building) is elite. Just bc I don't flex doesn't mean it's not there.
I love my community so much, and the way that my career and impact have been rewarded with wonderful humans with wonderful support, I know the feeling is reciprocal.
Do not to use my career success as example of progress in our community. It comes with so much more around it.
Hey yall! PyCon US is HERE!
I am showing up there, again, as my full self like I do every year. I am showing up with a new vigor, love & appreciation, but also a level of exhaustion.
This year, I was racism'd in Python activities in a way I've never experienced in the Python community before.

We're at the Python Language summit and we just made a presenter change their slides from dark mode into light mode, and also Guido had to move his seat to be right in front of the projector in order to read the slides.

⚠️ Pro tips for any Summit presenters at PyCon US 2025: (hatchery, language, maintainer, community organizers, etc)
1. Light mode for your slides
2. Use big fonts
3. Share presentation link to your audience so they can follow along in case your slides are not readable
