This is exactly how I’m coping. So tedious. So conservative. Love the club but haven‘t been able to fall in love with this team. A league title would have sparked relief but not much joy.

“Angels with Dirty Faces“ is my favorite of Jonathan Wilson’s many excellent books. David Winner’s “Those Feet“ is underrated. David Goldblatt‘s ”The Game of Our Lives“ is so so good. For a novel palate cleanser, Ross Raison’s “A Natural.”
The Premier League, no hesitation.
Liew at his finest. He is the bard of soccer's conscience.
Easy fix. Bring back Run of Play 😏
Chef‘s kiss
The great Johnny Liew does it again. Excellent piece.
MIB is a training wheels introduction to soccer for bros as told by the most Americanized Brits imaginable. Which is fine, I guess. But the authenticity discourse Rog is pushing now is absurd. I’d love to read a Defector takedown of the enterprise.
This is a great piece.
Correction: "Game Night"
Jesse Plemons in "Date Night"
Merle Haggard Haggard
I don’t think it’s outrageous to think Dano is the weak link in TWBB, but it‘s over the top and cruel to suggest that makes him a weak performer in general.
Also, I don’t think it was PTA’s intent to make TWBB a “two hander,” like some period/Western version of “Heat.”
Thin Red Line > SPR
It’s political malpractice to not talk about it.
Wonderful stuff as usual, Ryan!
I count myself as a fan of the Boss, but I couldn’t agree more with this. It’s self-indulgent slop.
