great characters, and interesting but not too complex plot. Would probably work alright as a standalone, though familiarity with the series does increase the enjoyment. (2/2)

Advocate: J.K. Rowling uses Harry Potter wealth to fund anti-transgender organization.
You absolutely cannot separate the artist and the art without contributing to the persecution of trans people. Boycott everything Potter.
although in retrospect (even though i havent played it and have only seen some clips) i probably could have figured it out myself eventually
so was anyone going to tell me that house of leaves was a major inspiration for control, or was i just supposed to find out from the footnotes of a jacob geller book by myself

second hand bookshop my beloved
how did i not hear about it back then, i was obsessed
wdym there was a 4th edge chronicles trilogy
and it came out over 10 years ago 😭😭😭
but yeah other than that it's good! the narrator is actually pretty funny
every time he starts another list of fish he saw the rating goes down
me reading twenty thousand leagues under the sea: PLEASE shut up about the fish i do not care about the fish
A brief return of the Murderbot Humble Bundle! The charity is still World Central Kitchen.
rereading guardian rn and i keep having to stop to do the happy wiggles
still pretty depressing, though ig that's the point lol
ok i will say it gets significantly more engaging part way through book 4
and maybe even doze off if im sat/lying down
also i HATE that audiobooks are so difficult for me to listen to. like the narrator has to be good, or i'll get annoyed and quit listening, but not too good, or my brain will turn it into asmr and i won't hear the actual words
and it's long.
which of course makes it a bit of a slog to get through
ok so babel is objectively very good - well written, important, clearly conveyed themes etc - but unfortunately it also alternates between boring and depressing
excellent lore so far (which is one of my main priorities)
yes i enjoyed it case you can't tell
