Opened this a while back and would love to get some discussion going on how we can improve web component styling as relates to slotted: https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/8577 #webcomponents #css #slots

An introduction to @scope in CSS Style based on proximity and set a lower boundary for a selector.

A nice brief introduction to @scope in #CSS

β€”
Styling elements based on proximity, and setting lower boundaries for cascading styles (donut-style). Extremely practical and useful. I can't count the number of times I've needed this lately.

Seeing Oppenheimer today! Really wishing I'd secured Barbie tickets too so we could participate in Barbenheimer but no such luck. Looking forward to it though!

[css-ui] Standardize tooltip styling and expose as `::tooltip` Β· Issue #8930 Β· w3c/csswg-drafts Now that popover and anchor positioning are moving forwards, I wonder if it’s time to re-examine standardizing tooltip styling and adding a ::tooltip pseudo-element so that authors can customize it....

Exciting news! At the CSS WG f2f we just resolved to pursue a ::tooltip (name TBD) pseudo-element for styling native UA tooltips!

My proposal was the 5th time in 23 years it was brought up (and the 2nd time *I* brought it up β€” first was in 2012!): https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/8930

Now that I've seen Apple Headquarters in person, I can definitely see what inspired the set for Devs.

Free Wi-Fi for Delta SkyMiles members was a genius move. About time someone made it more accessible.

CSS / Performance Tip:

Scroll-driven animations work off the main thread, making them much more performant than using the older JavaScript API

Not only is this API more ergonomic for devs, but you also get a performance boost πŸš€

Was kind of hoping it would storm tonight as the weather suggested yesterday but alas, no luck. The firework madness has now begun and I am holding my pets close and hoping my babies don't wake up. 🀞

Hot and humid the last few days and my AC has been struggling to keep up. Yesterday, I wasn't sure if I was going through early menopause or it was just hot.

I'm writing a new talk and I'd love to do it at some more events this year.

I'm breaking the mould of CSS-focused talks to do a more design related talk, all about how important pre-production is in guaranteeing a great UX that works for everyone.
