God of storms… Baal, a deity from West Semitic religious beliefs was assimilated into Egyptian worship during the Hykos Period when he was synchronized with the native God, Sutekh. This integration included other West Semitic deities such as Anat, Astarte, and Resheph, echoing the religious practices found in Ugaritic texts from Syria, where Baal featured prominently. As a god of storms and fertility, Baal’s primary role was to summon rain for agriculture.
