Advanced tools and fools - A short narrative
A primitive tribe looking at the US:
"We don't understand your electricity, gene-editing, self-driving cars, fusion technology, or global communications, but that guy cannot hunt, build shelters, or settle disputes. Why is he chief?"

I’m not at all religious, but I understand the importance of Easter to Christians. Seeing the religious right’s chosen one post this today of all days feels like a bit of an “I told you so” moment, but there truly is no bottom for his followers.
9 hour print but worth it. We’re ready for the movie tonight.
Wonder if Bluesky thought about naming it Blackhole.
A predictor (99.9% accurate) sets out 2 boxes.
Box A: $1,000 (visible)
Box B: $1,000,000 or $0
Take:
1) Box B only
2) Both boxes
If it predicted you’d take B only → $1M in B
If it predicted both → B is empty.
Prediction already made. Boxes filled.
What’s your move?
This is after just the first go at 1000 grit.

I’m holding two thoughts on getting out of this mess. tRump would have to do something or a series of somethings so far beyond his current insane actions that most everyone would snap out of the cult and realize this was never about politics. But also I believe there to be no bottom to this pit.

What we all need right now is a decent soundtrack, no social media, and some pre Y2K optimism.
Don’t put a label on yourself. It doesn’t matter if you’re fine with the definition because someone will always come along who has a different definition and they will judge you under it. You’re not a box. You’re a story unfolding. Make people curious. Make them ask.
Yeah. I have a suspicion you’d get a kick out of the premise.
What do you think of this: the people are system processes, not characters. Even Robert is an NPC. Edna’s real arc is physical. Sunburn, mosquitoes, water, motion. Learning to swim was her first act of agency. I think the author shows that as the story climax in the question “why was that so hard”.
Id love to see that fat dink shove his cankles into a pair of ice skates and get checked by any one the Olympic gold medalists from the women’s hockey team. Of course he was going to diminish their accomplishment so it’s the men’s team that borked it by going along. They can go puck themselves.
Thanks, Naomi. There’s a loose parallel to a story I’m writing. What if a person who becomes conscious of a closed system actually had the tools to rewrite it instead of having to exit it? Edna’s only escape is the ocean. My protagonist will seek to break the system open.
If you understand someone’s position on a topic, it doesn’t mean you agree with it. But if you don’t understand someone’s position, then how do you expect to walk them away from it?

We live in the most unserious mind numbing timeline in human history
Photo shows a heavily corroded water heater’s anode rod.
How old is your anode rod?
Trust is a bridge built slowly and destroyed instantly. Rebuilding it costs more than the original. And some will never return to it.
We will never reform while misinformed.
Pretty much our main responsibility as a species is to not annihilate ourselves.
Checks the doomsday clock.
Ugh. Never mind.

LOL to the number of people and comments posted on this site… a site that uses AI…talking about how AI is worthless and going away. MOGA people are sources of bottomless entertainment.
Tell me the movie Drop didn’t have a nod to Die Hard.
Opening shot of the tall building and I immediately thought about Nakatomi Plaza.
Then later the villain’s demise.
That had to be an homage to Die Hard.
“And now the conclusion”
Can that phrase land with the impact it used to in the era of streaming?
If someone wants to put you back in bowl, what’s your first name?
If you’re having toaster leavings for dinner, what’s your last name?
Shared values matter more than shared beliefs.
