For me, since childhood, that was an integral part of who I was. Post-trauma, it was more crafted: lest they become antagonistic, MUST PLEASE PEOPLE. It didn't mean I WAS safe in a world filled with wild cards, but it meant (I thought it meant) that I was doing something proactive to protect myself.

I think if someone asked me, "What did you do with your life," I'd have to say, "I did better." #WhatDidYouDoWithYourLife

That fear that you "don't make sense" when you talk isn't about whether you actually make sense or not-- it's usually about having been made to feel in the past like what you had to say wasn't important or intelligent.

The reality is, you are articulate & expressive. Remember.

And someone 17 months older than me introduced it to me. A double feature at a DC theater and - if memory serves (always a question nowadays) - it was a double feature with itself. I have seen H&M more times than I could count.♥️

Knowing HAROLD AND MAUDE was my favorite movie for decades, I just said, "Oh, no! Husband - Bud Cort died." He said, "Oh, no...but are they sure?" Bud Cort. Great actor in many roles but as Harold, that role will live on forever. RIP. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

I will suspend my atheistic disbelief to say that we must have all been so terrible in our past lives to have a karmic debt that doesn't seem to be able to be paid off.

My first proper reading in about a decade, so of course it’s with the “Tomorrow Will Be Worse” series here in Baltimore !

7 pm, 2/12, Old Major.

Love, love, love her but there is something markedly disturbing about realizing I am old enough to be Olivia Colman's mother...if I had been fast and loose in high school. Happy Birthday, Olivia! #OliviaColman

Sometimes I don't know what I need to see in the morning until I see it. Thank you for posting this. Sort of brought me back to who I was before all of our lives were upended.

What I miss about not having a landline are those rare occasions when I'd pick up the phone and - no dial tone because someone who was calling was right there before the phone had a chance to ring. #AnotherThingKidsTodayWillNeverExperience

I needed to cry so watched DRIVEWAYS for the umpteenth time. I wrote this when Dennehy died: I don't usually feel a void when a celebrity dies, but Dennehy's work was always so very personal, one couldn't help but feel his role become an intricate fiber of one's being. #BrianDennehy #Driveways

So happy to be on this list with these amazing writers, my story described as "Sage Tyrtle’s story is some Black Mirror shit. Shocking, weird and surprising." (YES! THIS IS ALWAYS WHAT I AM GOING FOR!)

Besides the conventions of the times (I mean, girls weren't allowed to wear pants to school until I was in second or third grade), I don't think my parents raised us to be male or female. Just good people. Just good people in the world. That's what they wanted. For themselves. For us. For the world.

Candied Pecan Man is deeply concerned about 2026. I told him he is right where he is supposed to be. I don’t know if it’s due to his lack of ears, or that he is inanimate and not a sentient being but, apparently, I did not assuage his fears. Here’s to less anxiety and more creativity in 2026!
