It will be important that the Liberals don’t make Conservatives more angry. We can’t afford to be more polarized. And , in my view , important that PP resign. He is unlikeable and not trustworthy. The Conservatives will win again and that needs to happen with a steady, smart and likeable leader.

If you’re in line when the polls close, stay in line. You can still cast your ballot. Your vote matters.

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs less to house people.

Now 816 #measles cases in Ontario from outbreak, up 155 in week.
"The sharp increase in the number of outbreak cases and the geographic spread in recent weeks is
due to continued exposures and transmission among individuals who have not been immunized."

Tragic, but also notable that this 4th death in North America is someone who is either a child or a person over the age of 65.

That does not describe the vast majority of confirmed cases, who are adults under the age of 50.

We really don't want to find out what H5N1 would do at population scale.

Of course Poilievre is standing by a candidate who made despicable comments about Indigenous people.

Newspapers are dying. News diversity died years ago. New research by The Australia Institute has found the slow death of newspapers in Australia has led to a plunge in media diversity and local storytelling.

The slow death of newspapers has led to a plunge in media diversity and local storytelling.

When newspapers began shutting down in big numbers a decade ago, it was hoped that moving online would broaden news diversity and ownership. Sadly, the opposite has happened.

Disingenuous and ridiculous. Globe and Mail actually shouldn't have published it, it is so fact-free. And wait - wasn't Preston one of Pierre's dear mentors?

The cause of the crash in Spring 2020 was the pandemic and it hit absolutely every country. Trump is a horror show but do put facts in context. It’s better for society.

Pierre Poilievre does have a woman problem - including a drop in the # of women candidates running for the Conservative party.

About 75 of 332 - 22.5%, down from about 1/3rd in 2021.

@robynurback.bsky.social, women don't want to run with them, or vote for them.

Made their own bed.

HART hub services missing as government touts 'successful transition' Toronto still waiting for provincial money: board of health chair

What success? None of the HART Hubs have funding agreements. They didn't "open" — just a handful of services have been brought online, and none of these services are new. All that's happened is that supervised consumption sites have been shut down. www.torontotoday.ca/local/city-h...

Slashed US funding threatens millions of children: charity chief A halt to US funding for Gavi, an organisation that vaccinates children in the world's poorest countries, will leave a dangerous gap threatening the lives of millions, its chief warned on Monday.

If there are cuts to our funding, “the world's ability to protect itself against outbreaks and health emergencies will be compromised”. Dr @sanianishtar.bsky.social explains why: bit.ly/4caxXHO Via @afpnews.bsky.social

Bill Maher was a total fan boy of Elon Musk when he was on his show. Also has platformed RFK Jr’s anti vax messages. This will certainly get him ratings given he’s mainly been ‘angry man yells at clouds’ for a long time.

The Canadian Conservatives now have almost a full field of candidates. Only just over 20% are women. That's down from 31% in the last election, which was still low.

They've had a long time to plan.. and that's the best they could do.
