I don’t have anything to say right now, other than massive respect and appreciation to @orkneymsp.bsky.social

Really surprised that it wasn’t as close as anyone had thought.
BREAKING: MSPs reject the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill by 69 to 57.
NEW: Brian Whittle becomes sixth MSP to withdraw support for assisted dying Bill.
On current numbers, it’s now effectively 63–63.
In a tie, the Presiding Officer uses her casting vote and by convention backs the status quo, meaning, if numbers above are right, the Bill falls
Thank you @lornaslater.bsky.social for an emotional, personal and brave speech. So many of us have stories of a loved ones death that we wished could have been different. It was beautiful to hear about your dad’s passing, no less painful than any other loss, but with the comfort of choice.
This debate is the best of politics. I’ve barely stopped crying all day. No matter the result, thank you to every MSP who has spoken with respect, sensitivity and compassion.
It was also encouraging to hear thoughts on suicide prevention.
The Samaritans Scotland #Holyrood2026 manifesto has our asks to tackle many of these issues - www.samaritans.org/news/samarit...
Good conversations about workforce, community services, third sector funding, stigma and prevention funding. Sadly not enough time for in depth discussions about wider social issues - but a lot of good commitments from most parties.
Although I am furious hearing Reform’s Jon Whitton drone on about improving mental health by “getting people off benefits” and stating some people might have “A LITTLE BIT OF A DISABILITY.”
Thank you @gillianmacmsp.bsky.social for calling this out!
At the Scottish Mental Health Partnership hustings ahead of #Holyrood2026
Good discussion overall, with all main parties in Scotland represented. @emmaroddicksnp.bsky.social @gillianmacmsp.bsky.social @paulsweeney.bsky.social Cllr Sally Pattle, Brian Whittle MSP and Jon Whitton.
The Scott monument in Edinburgh on a sunny day
Girls will be like ‘I needed this’ and it’s just the Scott monument in the sun.

Furious! Immigration discussion on #BBCQT where the tory Ben Spencer says people shouldn’t be here if they don’t live by British values. Define ‘British values’ Ben! Some may cite fair treatment of women or consent - okay great so are we deporting every British man who doesn’t live by those values?

Not me crying at the European Figure Skating Championships on a Sunday afternoon! 🏴🇬🇧
It was my son’s 5th birthday this weekend so it’s been busy, fun and I haven’t had much sleep. Now as we watch this together, I’m remembering watching the skating with my mum when I was wee 💜
Absolute chaos at Musselburgh station as the train arrives with people already pretty much falling out the doors. Around 40-50 people on platform not able to get on. @edinburghminute.bsky.social
This article is a very hard and upsetting but important read. TW: rape, murder.
Dangerous men don't come with a sign on their head. "He's often been referred to as 'crossbow killer'... but... He was just a person, just a man... who went to the gym, had a family, had a relationship, watched TV."
Well that was quite a surprise as I turned the corner out of Haymarket station! #Edinburgh
A room full of people standing and clapping
I am mentally exhausted, but what a great day being in a room full of people working to make the world a better place and save lives. Getting some hope back! #SuicidePreventionScotland
Big applause for Minister @mareetodd.bsky.social speaking up for marginalised communities, particularly refugees and trans people, at #SuicidePreventionScotland conference. Very sad that it feels refreshing to hear a politician say this right now.
Speaker infront of a screen reading ‘storytelling can be an act of hope’
In sunny Glasgow today for #SuicidePreventionScotland conference. Starting the day strong by getting to know people doing amazing work, and now hearing about the power of storytelling by a pro, @karingoodwin.bsky.social
Ditto, sending hugs.
*explore, obviously. My eyes are stinging from all the crying I’ve done during this debate, I clearly can’t see what I’m typing!
In floods of tears. Finally a chance to explora, scrutinise and see if there is a safe way to give people in Scotland choice at the end of life.
This is only stage 1, but it will be emotional and difficult for many. Thoughts and solidarity with anyone finding this hard for whatever reason.
Thank you to every MSP who has spoken with kindness & care today. A very emotional debate on assisted dying in the Scottish Parliament.
It’s 14 years this week since my mum died, so it’s been a hard watch for me. I trust every MSP to vote with their conscience and with constituents in mind.
When you didn’t bring snacks but your pal brought the good stuff #nufc

I’m in a hotel in Turkey, it has a library. Among the various books in different languages I noticed this… @hackneyabbott.bsky.social you have international fans!
Gym question: do different countries use different units of weight on the machines? I’m in a gym in turkey and I’m not able to lift the same as I can at home, having to go down 10kg (I think kg?) Is that a thing or am I just weaker abroad?
WE HAVE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
IM CRYING. BRUNO IS CRYING. ANT AND DEC ARE CRYING!!! #HWTL 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍
Can you believe Spotify are hosting this “course”?
Would hosting this be a breach of the UK’s Online Safety act?
Shockingly there’s no way to report this on the Spotify app?!?
