'The Pitt' Season 2 finale goes all-Robby, all-the-time mode Noah Wyle shines in an episode that goes heavy on the main character, before two supporting players get a surprise mid-credits spotlight

I had a lot of thoughts about The Pitt s2 finale, its emphasis on Robby being both incredibly damaged yet always right, and that wonderful mid-credits scene:

Honestly, I don’t know how you don’t get emotional watching astronauts coming home

Just occurred to me I've never seen astronauts return from space this way. I've seen dozens of orbiter landings during the STS era, but a capsule splashdown with parachutes and stuff? Only in archival footage and in movies.

Welcome back!

A black and white painting of a Victorian woman lying in a bed near an open window.

Forever torn between longing for a Victorian convalescence/rest cure, and knowing they were mainly prescribed by male doctors to women diagnosed with "hysteria," a made-up misogynist disease.

I'm sure there will be no long-term consequences to all of us veering between hypervigilance over potential nuclear war and trying to go to work because none of us can afford to pay our bills and may still be trying to recover from health consequences from the pandemic we're pretending didn't happen

just to be clear, everyone, when 8 pm EDT comes and goes, regardless of what does or does not happen, the president still threatened genocide and war crimes and we should still impeach, arrest, and try him

Sometimes I have new adverse reactions to meds I've used successfully before, too. That's extra annoying.

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Sure is fun to exist in a body that reacts strangely to new-to-me meds. Sometimes it's fine. Sometimes I get side effects no-one has heard of before. It's pretty much a coin toss. And I don't know if it's MCAS or the fact that women as a demographic are under-studied in pharmaceutical trials.

‘The way we love them in life is the way we love them in death’: a Gullah Geechee community fights for their cemetery In a win for the Gullah Geechee people on St Helena Island in South Carolina, access to a long-used cemetery has been restored

“We’ve not been able to go in and clean the cemetery. We’ve not been able to go in and bury deceased loved ones,” Mack told the Guardian last year. “It’s important for the younger folks to know that we don’t just bury our loved ones and leave them there."

‘It can spare people so much pain’: what is an advance directive and should you get one? My sister and I had to make decisions that determined the course of my parents’ final hours. This important end-of-life document could have guided us

Discussing “what we want done with our bodies in our deaths is really an act of love, not just for ourselves, but the people that support us”, says Sarah Chavez, executive director of The Order of the Good Death. “It can spare people so much … unnecessary pain and confusion and conflict.”
