Anybody needs me I’ll be hanging around the ambulance bay at St. Joe’s until The Pitt comes back for season three.
The Pitt is over and everything is worse now
I had a lot of thoughts about The Pitt s2 finale, its emphasis on Robby being both incredibly damaged yet always right, and that wonderful mid-credits scene:

Integrity splashing down, parachutes starting to collapse
IR view of Integrity floating in the a Pacific after orbiting the Moon
aerial shot a spaceship floating in the ocean, sunlight reflecting towards the camera

USS Integrity
Honestly, I don’t know how you don’t get emotional watching astronauts coming home
Just occurred to me I've never seen astronauts return from space this way. I've seen dozens of orbiter landings during the STS era, but a capsule splashdown with parachutes and stuff? Only in archival footage and in movies.
Welcome back!
I mean, aside from the earthquake hazard of it all 😂
A black and white painting of a Victorian woman lying in a bed near an open window.
Forever torn between longing for a Victorian convalescence/rest cure, and knowing they were mainly prescribed by male doctors to women diagnosed with "hysteria," a made-up misogynist disease.
Love this song and video. Especially because Donny Osmond was my first crush
I completely misread your post and thought you said Sonoma County! :)
And now, as tribute for all my doom posting…

The 1982-83 El Niño is one of my core memories growing up in So Calif, resulting in ~$4 trillion in damages. Investors, fasten your seatbelts
Mine, too. Where did you grow up? I was in Forestville.
I'm sure there will be no long-term consequences to all of us veering between hypervigilance over potential nuclear war and trying to go to work because none of us can afford to pay our bills and may still be trying to recover from health consequences from the pandemic we're pretending didn't happen
just to be clear, everyone, when 8 pm EDT comes and goes, regardless of what does or does not happen, the president still threatened genocide and war crimes and we should still impeach, arrest, and try him
My request, I mean
It's nothing relevant to the current administration, at least I don't think it will turn out to be.
I filed a Freedom of Information Request with the CIA in mid-November. I just got an acknowledgment of it yesterday. The time limit spelled out in the law is 30 days.
Just got a rejection for an essay I submitted in June 2025. Even in the literary-journal world, that's a long time.
Sometimes I have new adverse reactions to meds I've used successfully before, too. That's extra annoying.
Sure is fun to exist in a body that reacts strangely to new-to-me meds. Sometimes it's fine. Sometimes I get side effects no-one has heard of before. It's pretty much a coin toss. And I don't know if it's MCAS or the fact that women as a demographic are under-studied in pharmaceutical trials.
“We’ve not been able to go in and clean the cemetery. We’ve not been able to go in and bury deceased loved ones,” Mack told the Guardian last year. “It’s important for the younger folks to know that we don’t just bury our loved ones and leave them there."

Discussing “what we want done with our bodies in our deaths is really an act of love, not just for ourselves, but the people that support us”, says Sarah Chavez, executive director of The Order of the Good Death. “It can spare people so much … unnecessary pain and confusion and conflict.”
1. Incredible news out of Romania. An appeals court in the country has forced them to recognize the legal gender of a trans man.
It is the first known internal enforcement of a 2024 EU Court ruling.
Romania has ranked last by ILGA on LGBTQ+ rights in EU.
