At a community meeting Monday at the Geary campus where Kaiser leaders described the project, some residents who live in the neighborhood expressed concerns about the height of the proposed hospital — 14 stories, compared to the current facility’s nine stories. That would cast a long shadow on Geary Boulevard and make it harder for greenery to grow, and might lead to more wind at the street level, said Mary McFadden, who lives a few blocks away from the current facility. McFadden said she’d like more information about how the new facility would benefit patients and the area, and why Kaiser is proposing to increase the size of the hospital more dramatically than the number of beds. “How does this really serve patients and the neighborhood?” she said.
State of California: all hospitals must be seismically retrofitted!
Kaiser: O.K., we will build a new hospital

Why are you ignoring his experience as an entrepreneur? He rose to become the CEO of a Facebook app and had his startup successfully acqui-hired!
First best outcome would have been Buffy Wicks running for governor...
Second best outcome is Buffy Wicks and her office becoming just as bold and methodical about transportation as they have been about housing!
All but two of the Democrats in the California gubernatorial race have the same tax platform as both republicans: reduce or repeal the income tax (Porter, Yee, Bianco, Hilton), no new taxes (Mahan, what is wrong with you) or reducing the fossil fuel tax (Villaraigosa). These are the worst democrats.

Is the commission open to also promoting public transit as an amenity at public coastal access spots?
Pour one out for Hampshire College...
The good news is that there continue to be liberal-arts colleges offering small faculty-led classes. The bad news is that to survive, the privates rely on endowments > $1 billion and the publics rely on supportive state legislatures

New York Times headline reading "Swalwell’s Fall Punctuates Woes of Democrats in California, of All Places Democrats have struggled to find a candidate for governor who can capture the imagination of voters in one of their most important strongholds."
Piss off, NYT headline writers
No, it's not ideal, but we'll figure it out
Were you hoping to vote for an under-qualified white male in his early 40s from the Bay Area suburbs?
No need to be sad... Matt Mahan is still running for governor of California!
Swalwell ended his campaign due to:
1. Brave women sharing their stories
2. Excellent reporting by @sfchronicle.com AND
3. Dozens of organizations, electeds, and staff revoking endorsements/calling on him to drop out
This is what accountability looks like.
Now let’s remove him from Congress.
