On Sunday, Jan. 4, KCPD arrested 2 members of FNBKC during our weekly meal share on trespassing charges. KCPD forced all FNBKC volunteers to leave & dispersed anyone present for our meal.

Food is a human right. We have the right to public spaces.
We intend to continue sharing with the community.

On Sunday, January 4, KCPD arrested two members of food not bombs kc during our weekly meal share on trespassing charges. KCPD forced all FNBKC volunteers to leave the area and dispersed anyone arriving for our meal, under threat of further arrests. The police cited a loitering ordinance, alleging that members were blocking the public sidewalk.

For over 13 years, Food Not Bombs KC has been sharing 60 - 100 hot meals, groceries, and other supplies freely in the same public area on the sidewalk. Last Sunday was the first time we were unable to do so. Despite police disruption, we distributed what food and supplies we could at another location, though many of our neighbors were shooed away by police presence and were unable to find us.

We intend to continue sharing with the community, as dozens of our neighbors rely on the food we share every week. Food is a human right. We have the right to public spaces, and the right to demonstration.

We have covered the bond for our volunteers who were arrested during our meal share. Any support you can share will help us cover any additional fines, legal costs, or more bonds paid should KCPD continue to escalate.
