AI Did Not Demand Centralised Power. Vested Interests Did. There is a comforting lie spreading fast, repeated by governments, legacy energy players, defence contractors, and now increasingly by parts of the tech sector itself. It says that artificial intellig...

Wondering why we need a nuclear power station near Bridgend?
We don't - Wales is already producing more than enough energy for all of us
The American investors plan to sell the electricity directly to these proposed AI data centres - because that's where the money is

Powered by a nuclear power station that we definitely don't want

Powered by nuclear power stations that we definitely don't want on our doorstep

The point for Wales here is that such an accident (were it Traws, Wylfa, Llynfi Valley etc) would *completely* destroy our land, people, and exonomy.

For all the limitations of renewables, there is a reason we don’t talk about Photovoltaic Fallout or Tidal Lagoon contamination.

Plenty of reasons not to want a nuclear power station next door

Nuclear energy proponents like to pretend that nuclear energy is clean, but that's not really true is it. You talked about honesty earlier - so let's be honest about the cost of nuclear power to people's health and to the environment.

Unfortunately this nuclear power station will not be powering hospitals, schools and homes. Most of the energy will be sold directly to AI companies, because that's where the profits are.

Last Energy, the American investment company that wants to build this nuclear power station, are obliged to hold their own meetings and are supposed to send information about these meetings to every household in the area.

You are very welcome to come along and listen to the presentation, and if you don't want to join in the discussion afterwards, that's not a problem.

I appreciate you wanting to hear both sides.
This meeting is organised by the local campaign opposing the plans. We haven't invited Last Energy to come as we want to be able to talk freely about what we can do to stop this nuclear power station from going ahead.
