as for money the western devs are getting hurt by their games not doing great because their publishers demand big success or else the whole thing gets axed but the japanese games are doing alright, and the community's big enough now that there's like at least a dozen people playing everything lol

Besides the evo/riot news it's mostly gamer outrage cycles making the noise like they do with a lot of multiplayer genres if they arent the biggest thing ever. The games are selling fine enough to keep on trucking within the niche, might never be mainstream again like the 90's but that's alright
