My favorite reads for the month of January include:
T. E. D. Klein's novel, THE CEREMONIES,

"Ruminants" by Kay Chronister,
and "Flying" by Julia Elliot.
My complete reading list for January is here: www.weirdmurmur.com/p/reading-di...
A new murmur about Junji Ito's REMINA. Ironically, cosmic horror can show just how *significant* we are in terms of the terror and suffering we are capable of inflicting.

Here's a murmur about a wonderful Mark Samuels short story, "Apartment 205." Samuels reveals the maddening, terrifying truth, but the story still retains all of its horror.

I liked all of the movies that I watched in December. A good dose of ghosts and rural gothic:

Well, 988,354 is a lot!
A murmur about a great short story collected in Michael Kelly's The Best Weird Fiction of the Year Vol. 1, @undertow.bsky.social. Among other things, Charlotte Tierney's "A Woman's Place Is in the Haunted Home" reveals things about anxiety that only fiction can.

A murmur about Robert W. Chambers' prequel to "The Yellow Sign": the short story "The White Shadow."

As I was thinking through the cool monsters in Erdelac's stories about John Conquer, the comparison suddenly struck me: Conquer is Silver John set in Harlem 1976!
Looking forward to the book, and I'm happy to see Hiron Ennes' "Our Best Selves" in the TOC! That and their story "The Breath of Kannask" were two of my personal favorites from 2024. @hironennes.bsky.social
Hello?? THE WORKS OF VERMIN is one of Lit Hubs Most Anticipated books of (the rest of) 2025--"Truly on par with Vandermeer and Miéville, an absolute thrill to read."
