A text chat image that says: "Hi, it's the real Steven King the author. I need ten dollars to keep writing the books you like, please send." "No way this is the real Stephen King." "the gunslinger chase the man in black across the desert and ka has wheels" "omg it's really you"

A picture of Captain Picard from Star Trek: Next Generation with the text of a quote that reads: "It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life."

Feeling this quote pretty hard today. Incredible amounts of preparation, and a big thing still didn't go right. Not to say that that there were not things to learn from it, because there most definitely were. Gonna take a knee on today, but right back up tomorrow to get back after it.

Movie poster for the film Oddity, the top half of which features an image of a woman with outstretched arms over the title, which runs through the middle, and a mirrored image on the bottom half of a wooden mannequin creature.

This moody little film is easily Top 3 of 2024 for me. It's got a little more polish than the director's previous feature, Caveat, but still oozing with dread.

Canada has it on Blu as well. And Second Sight released Absentia on Blu in the UK, but that one is harder to find.

A fairly large, reputable website just asked me to make sure my email address is correct in their system by... sending an email.

100% some executive required this email to be sent over objections from every rational person in the meeting.

(It's not a phishing scam. Actual email from the company.)

The last piece of my Hellfire Club starter kit arrived, @jaketapper.bsky.social

(For those unfamiliar, the paperbacks in this picture are ARCs, Advanced Review Copies. I have a small collection of ARCs from authors I enjoy and couldn't resist grabbing these when I saw they were available.)

nontechnical version:

this is a big deal + huge step for transparency! most companies keep their code private/proprietary, but bc ours is public, you can literally see every implementation (how we make buttons blue, how mute lists work, etc) & what we're working on at any given moment

I would kill for an ALF doll right now, but Tyrion will have to do. Testing real-time virtual production with green cardboard and action figures!
