#MoonChild features three secret locations that make him get all dark diamonds of that level at once and warp him to the next level. I'll post these today and tomorrow in a small thread.
Here's the first one, hidden in the waterfall area of World 1, Level 3.

Screenshot from Mastodon, white text on black background: Erik Uden @ErikUden@mastodon.de Once libraries are nonexistent any modern fascist movement wouldn't even have to burn books, but flick one switch and they'd be remotely deleted from your Amazon Kindle or similar digital "library". Capitalists are already building the infrastructure to do this through DRM, so stop believing tech is apolitical - the defunding of libraries and paywalling of information are all part of this.
A reminder during #NationalLibraryWeek, libraries are our best and last defense against the fascist monopoly on knowledge and information
The cyberattack on The British Library in October 2023 knocked out ebooks and almost ever other computer thing there for years.
Ebooks just came back. They were knocked out everywhere using the BL’s license (legal deposit libraries I think? More libraries?)
Distributed physical copies matter.
'Phantasy Star III' was released on the SEGA Mega Drive 36 years ago today in Japan.
If you hold crouch down in Moon Child, after a number of seconds he will fart. Amazing easter egg I was able to properly figure out after looking at the source code (I forgot how I originally got it to happen):

I work at Kotaku now! :)
You can go watch back today's KFGD to hear me talk about it a little if you want. You could also read my alma mater @gibiz.bsky.social to learn more! www.gamesindustry.biz/kotaku-hires...
Hey everybody! I am taking the helm of this classic American institution with @theonion.com and want to know what you fine folks would like to see from us.
Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.
There's just gotta be a line somewhere.
Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.
A magazine scan close up photo of the sidecar FDD that slotted into the expansion port in the right of the MD. It has the same cyberpunk aesthetic as the console itself

Mega Drive games on floppy disk? Productivity, artwork, game expansions, and DLC when combined with the Mega Modem?
Just a few potential uses of the unreleased Sega Mega Drive Floppy Disk Drive.
Showcased in 1989, it would have been a Sony-Sega co-pro and used proprietary 2" floppies.
With the help of the Sandy Hook families, The Onion has reached a long-awaited deal to take over InfoWars.
We've enlisted the help of @timheidecker.bsky.social, who will be InfoWars' Creative Director.
Please stand by for more.
Would love a vinyl of the ost!

Back in the mid-1990s, I made all Moon Child's graphics using DPaint on an Amiga, but I wasn't skilled in 3D creation yet. So I designed and printed a storyboard template, drew storyboards with pencil and directed 3D animators to realize cinematic videos that surround the game in the CD-ROM version.

If ya'll could boost my game I'd very much appreciate it!
Trying to get to 50 reviews for the Steam algorithm. I already have glowing reviews from the likes of Raigan Burns (N++) and Daniel Linssen (Leap Year) and just need a handful more.

For a bonus vid to go alongside it, learn how Euro anime fandom got an early start and how it was intrinsically linked to the Amiga in Europe.
Loving Moon Child? Curious about the Euro Amiga scene it was born from?
I highly recommend checking out @etherealserah.bsky.social's vid on the vibes of the 90s Amiga (demo)scene.
3 vertical panels. Panel 1 labeled 2014 - me with short hair in front of a CRT with Shenmue on it and a Dreamcast, SNES and N64 in front of it. Me saying "I love collecting retro game stuff! I'm gonna play ALL the games!" Panel 2 labeled 2019 - me with slightly longer hair, more consoles in front of the TV, with static on the screen. Me saying "These old systems needs a lot of maintenance. I have to get better at electronics repair. Panel 3 labeled 2024 - even more systems on the CRT, but me with my current long hair sitting at a table with my back to them, soldering a circuit board, my custom PICO-8, my handmade Vectrex controller, my "Game Man" I made by consolising a GBA on the table and me saying "...remember when I used to play games?"
Since it feels like all I've been doing for the last 3 weeks has been repairing my game collection, today's #throwbackthursday is the little comic strip I made about this EXACT situation two years ago!

Non-horror game that creeped me out: Scrap Brain Zone from Sonic 1. Dunno what it is about this song, but I would turn off my Genesis IMMEDIATELY when I got to this stage and didn’t beat the game until way later because of how bad the music scared me. Might be the drums? youtu.be/NoVY7nvcel0?...
An image of an Amia computer semi submerged in tropical ocean in an island bay, the monitor on a marble plinth from which a waterfall cascades from the screen. All manner of colorful fish, a toucan, and a flamingo can be seen too.
