The Jesse Jackson I Am Somebody clip from Sesame Street, 1972. Elementary school kids in Oakland still say these words. Learning about his campaigns and purpose after working in multiracial coalitions was both inspiring and led to a degree of despair that change is possible. Rest in power, legend.

Give a man a fish and someone with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about people getting free handouts. Teach a man to fish? Yeah, that person with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about that too.

In Blackburn, England, J. Stanwroth & Co. both made and repaired umbrellas. In their 1910 catalog, you can see prices ranging from 3 to 66 shillings for such an accessory (roughly $28 to $630 in today's money). Some photos of their repair ad and workshop:

If you enjoy writing then keep going. I know from experience how much a writer puts into each story. It's hard to keep going if reader engagement isn't high, but every story has its place & its moment & its audience. And someone might find your story and it might mean everything to them.

Now to get all the other "boys" to follow suit

Just a heads up to protect your account as well as your followers. White House accounts have migrated here in the last few hours. I have blocked every one of their accounts. NOT a coincidence since tomorrow is #NoKings day
