ETH ran these players into the ground and caused a huge injury crisis. I imagine the rotation will lessen once we are out of this congested winter schedule, but that’s the reality of the modern game. Rotation now will save us from completely falling apart in the spring like we do every season.

That’s part of why Salah is an all-time great, Bruno too, and we’re lucky to have him, but most are not like those two. I agree Case/Eriksen shouldn’t have started, but Ruben had no options other than Mainoo, who isn’t fit, or an academy kid, who would’ve been trampled by that Newcastle midfield.

Absolutely. I’ve seen that performance against Newcastle and other clubs countless times before while playing a back 4. It’s not due to the system.

Yep. It’s time for pain. This club and fan base have never truly buckled down. They always, always choose the easy way out. It’s time to ride out the storm.

I don’t think it’s naive. He’s acknowledged that it’s difficult to build connections between players whilst rotating, but rotation is necessary to avoid injuries. This fan base should know better than most how devastating it can be to run players into the ground, as all previous managers have done.

The problems with mental fragility are not new. I lost count of how many times this team collapsed in tough moments under ETH and prior managers. I think we are making too much of the new system’s impact on player’s performances. They were bad & losing whilst playing a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, and bad now.

Other side of the coin, costs need to be cut due to nearly two decades of financial mismanagement by the Glazers.

I get that and I also wish it wasn’t heading in this direction, but we’ve got to be real. INEOS is paying for their decision to stick with ETH in the summer. The team is not making top 4, probably not going to win any trophies. The best thing we can do is support what Amorim is trying to build.

I’d rather give Amorim a free hit for half a season, work his system out, evaluate the players, and have a full pre-season. We have to be willing to accept this short term pain for long term gain. This club and fan base has always picked the easy way out. We’ve got to stop.

(2/2) implemented a identifiable, structural identity with 4 training sessions, something we never got close to with ETH, who immediately abandoned his principles and changed our play style from game to game. Ruud was just a continuation of that.

Again, I really don’t think we can say Ruud would’ve done any better. The team was playing terribly (with an occasional good game) for the better part of two years with a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3. Bad then, bad now. I don’t see the difference. If anything, Amroim has improved the team’s compactness and (1/2)

Completely agree. People need to get to grips with the reality of the situation. At this point, I’m not bothered with results. We’re not getting top 4, we’re not winning any trophies. Just let it go. I just want to see something being built.

Honestly Phil, it’s fine if we lose. I don’t care about wins and losses at this point. We’ve lost so, so many times. We need to suffer to build something from the ground up.

Nope. It’s time to suffer. Let’s not act like this season was salvageable with Ruud (or anyone for that matter) as manager. We will lose. And it’ll be fine.

1 year ago 2 0 1 0

Ruud would not have done any better. This team has been performing poorly for nearly 2 years and beyond.

The club and fan base have taken the easy way out at every possible opportunity in the last decade. It’s time to do the hard thing, to truly suffer. Trust Amorim and support him to build something from the ground up.

It’s time for the club and fan base - who have, at every past opportunity, taken the short-cut - to buckle down and accept short term pain for long term gain. The squad has made leaps and bounds over the past month - fans must continue to support them. No more half-measures.

United are being undone by a combination of bad luck followed by catastrophic head-loss. Their actual play, structure and chance creation have all improved massively under Amorim. Just needs to sort their heads out (difficult) and wait for the luck to turn (inevitable). In time, it'll come good.
