have finally started posting this and am having a lovely time. it's a dead fandom (there are like five of us) but it's easily some of the best fanwork I've done in ages. we do these things not because we want kudos, but because we have worms in our brains

I'm so sorry, sending kindness and healing wishes
plenty of twitter refugees for sure, but there's plenty of people radicalizing themselves into this shit entirely on this app
me from the account where I post sad detective pornography: some real fucking sickos around here
it is in fact possible to be wholeheartedly opposed to the crimes of the Israeli government and US-Israeli policy without descending into this kind of bigotry and fuck everyone trying to excuse it
dismiss this as fringe all you want but the antisemitism on this app (and more broadly) is getting totally out of hand. the "Stop AIPAC" stuff that isn't even tracking AIPAC donations. people calling themselves "J-pilled". the false flag horseshit
Notes in Scrivener that read: "THE DUKE NEEDS A LOT GOING ON CLARIFY THE ENTIRE FUCKING SUMMIT provisional Republic ADD A MONSTER GOOSE maybe suggest [redacted] not doing so well?"
most of my manuscript notes look like this
I love this!! It's so cute!!
like I think we're all kidding ourselves in pretending there's an real difference between STEM people and humanities people; it's more about whether people have basic human curiosity
humanities people frequently have this fantasy that if everyone just Read Philosophy then we'd all be enlightened, and while I fully agree that exposure to the arts should be mandatory, it is not a panacea for moral failings. history is full of people who studied philosophy and became turbo-evil
in my opinion there should also be trans day of audibility where everybody spends all day posting dope experimental music by trans women for me to listen to
but nostalgia for something so bad? I mean, it's just like...
I'm utterly gobsmacked at the number of people comparing a substandard YA franchise to works of actual meaningful art, and the fake-difficulty these same people have grasping the notion that you shouldn't contribute to an ongoing campaign of oppression and material harm
ah yes, indiscriminate harassment is praxis actually
Madoka Magica is Evangelion for Gen Z/alpha with trippier visuals and a premise of "what if yuri could be powerful enough to save the universe and also destroy it"
a Tumblr DM chat. user 1: "hi, I apologize for the intrusion, but would it be okay to post a short story inspired by your artwork? I'm happy to let you see it first, or not post it at all; it was just a very beautiful drawing" user 2: "Hi, yeah, no problem, of course you can post it ^^"
A Tumblr DM. user 2: "OK OH MY GOD I READ IT, ARE YOU JOKING, THAT WAS AMAZING HHHHHHHH I LOVE the gore, love the snippets the description is so vivid ARE YOU JOKING, that is so good sorry i tend to caps scream when i enjoy something, apologies, i hope i didn' scare you away but ohmygod yes, i love that"
A Tumblr DM. user 2: "thank you for writing it" user 1: "oh gosh I'm so glad! I'm a huge fan of your work and repost it a lot on my sideblog [redacted], your art is so fantastic!!" user 2: "okay hold on you wrote [redacted] WHAT oh my dude i am bowing to you, are you serious, that's like the best fanfic i ever read [redacted] in my life"
one of the few bright spots of fandom is how fan artists and fic writers can be each other's biggest admirers for the longest time and simply never know it until they work up the nerve to interact
the last like 36 hours on this app have been shockingly antisemitic, it's not just the right wing with a Nazi problem. seen it from center-left, liberals, "progressives", whoever and we need to neutralize this now
I was inspired by this really beautiful piece of fanart and wrote a fic for it, but instead of being sweet and gentle like the art it got kinda gory?? when I showed it to the artist she was like "OMG I LOVE THE GORE" so the lesson is believe in yourself and be a sicko

thank you! not counting on anything and it'll take ages to hear back (I applied in August and they just announced candidates a few weeks ago) but I'm just flattered to have been shortlisted.
this is a super competitive process so I'm determined to just forget about it but at least one of the panelists said he likes my work π
this may be why they're hiring a head of written communications
have a job interview with an international org tomorrow. they said it was at 10 AM and did not specify my 10 or theirs. guess who's waking up at 3 AM
π« here's hoping for good resolution and a pleasant break for everybody!
hope all is well <3
the anime is gold but it's a slightly adapted version of the first two volumes, more or less. (there are 17 volumes of the manga.) I think the comic is much better but the show does a respectable job conveying the vibe
genuinely it's a wholesome story about geeky women (ages 18-30) who don't fit in but have each other and I wish desperately I'd had it as a teen. just lovely all around
Inari, furious at everyone charmed by Kuranosuke, vandalizes a public wall with "THEM BOOBS IS FAKE, BITCHES!" Her beleaguered assistant shouts "No! You'll get us arrested!"
Jiji is showing off books she's gotten for Kuranosuke. "I bought some books at the bookstore..." she says. She shows off "Intro to the Apparel Industry", another fashion book, and "Older Men." Kuranosuke says "One of those books isn't like the others...but thank you..."
Kai Fish holding up a dress. "A model's job is to wear the cheap dresses in a way that lets the poor dream big," he says.
Hwa-Young holding up a tablet that says "Don't run. You're a hostage." Tsukimi, unseen, says "Right! Yes, I know! I won't run away!"
I cannot emphasize enough that this is a comic book series about jellyfish, and miscellaneous jellyfish trivia become plot-relevant developments. okay but what is the plot, exactly? well---

am halfway through this and it is far and away the most difficult fic I've ever done, this is way beyond my skill level but I'm doing it anyway because I'm too invested (read: stupid) to stop now
