CA voters should really read the gubernatorial candidate statements in the state voter guide because there are some doozies! Including one guy who got slapped with a bonus “these incredibly racist opinions are not those of the Secretary of State” disclaimer

RIP Tim Apple, inventor of making everyone download a U2 album and bad keyboard keys and getting rid of the F keys entirely and also bringing back the F keys and acting like it’s a hot new feature

"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X

The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.

I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).

So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court takes up two new cases for next term, including a case over Colorado’s exclusion of Catholic preschools from public funding.

The case specifically raises a question the court has circled around for years: Whether 1990’s Employment Division v. Smith should be overruled.

I would love it if those of you who do not have library cards will apply for one at your local branch during #NationalLibraryWeek. Then let me know about it. 😇

900lb crates full of onions in a field

The Coachella music festival is in the news with the minimum price of sold out 3-day ticket costing $549. Contrast that with "Nicolas" who is currently harvesting onions in the Coachella area and getting paid $22 for a $900lb crate. #WeFeedYou #coachella2026

NEW CHAPTER: One of the loudest parent voices in the San Francisco Unified School District is putting down the bullhorn. Meredith Dodson is stepping down from her executive role at SF Parents, the organization she founded, though she will remain active in the group's political arm, SF Parents Action, which handles endorsements.
"Six years in, and I'm more hopeful about SF Parents than ever," Dodson said. "I'm moving into a deeper focus on our political and elections work."
Dodson confirmed she is not running for the school board and said she wants to spend more time with her family.
Dodson launched SF Parents during the pandemic amid widespread frustration with SFUSD's remote learning policy.
The group went on to play a key role in supporting the 2022 school board recall and is now a major moderate force in
SFUSD politics, often countering the progressive views of the United Educators of San Francisco, the city's powerful teachers union.

I’m surprised that @sfstandard.com still seems to be the only one reporting that Meredith Dodson has stepped down from SFP’s nonprofit (but is still heading the PAC). SFP is one of various groups that blurs the line between their c3 and c4

SF’s Civic Joy Fund is one of those hidden-picture tests: Do you see a lamp or a woman’s face? Are billionaires using tax loopholes to advance a technofash takeover of public space, or are they philanthropists swooping in to save the arts when no one else will? www.coyotemedia.org/how-could-yo...

SFUSD’s strategy for missing its education goals? Delaying the due date The district’s data shows reading and math scores going the wrong way. Its answer is to ask for more time.

For 5 years, there’s been this screaming demand that SFUSD never talk about anything besides math and reading. Suddenly those goals are unreasonable? Boot them all.
