NOW 343 DAYS since our nuclear test veterans - national heroes now in their eighties - requested a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss how he will honour the commitment Labour made to them in opposition.

How much longer must they wait?

Jon Stewart is a legend & the way this show is trying to explain to a mainstream audience the gravity what is happening in the US is amazing. It was both thrilling & terrifying to be part of it. Thank you @TheDailyShow 👏

NEW: The Royal College of GPs has shifted to a neutral stance on assisted dying after consulting with its members.

In 2005 the RCGP took an opposing position. Its change of stance follows a similar shift by the BMA and adds to momentum in favour of assisted dying in the UK.

I also picked up on Dr Chloe Hurst’s point that, of dying patients who are prescribed the life-ending medication, 30% don’t go on to use it.

Demonstrates palliative effect of having choice & that patients don’t take medication as soon as it’s prescribed but only when they need to or not at all.

Thank you for making this distinction @kimleadbeatermp.bsky.social

Assisted dying is about exercising control over the manner and timing of a death that is inevitable and imminent.

This is about shortening death, not shortening life.

Some good achievements but the new #Labour Government seems to share the lack of interest the Conservative Govt had in #SuicidePrevention despite 6,000+ preventable suicide deaths every year - a huge human cost and an economic cost of £10 billion per year!

I know that not everyone is happy with the current UK government - I’m not happy with it on a number of counts - but does anyone seriously think we need to be ‘liberated by America’, especially by a US Government with an unelected billionaire seemingly calling the shots?!
