Do they understand how mad they sound? As if anyone has ever decided to cross the Channel in a small boat because, if they make it, they might get to take a free taxi to a doctor's appointment?

"Pull factors" on steroids.

I love that SkyTrain is the British Columbia Rapid Transit Company. It sounds like something from 1907 incorporated to build a subway line, not a world-first automated rapid transit system

The photo in the original post, cropped and rotated 90° clockwise, resulting in the two amber lights being side by side, looking like two eyes, and the letter D rotated looking like an open mouth

A fun afternoon out yesterday!

Question for @swlines.bsky.social - I wonder how many miles aboard 230001 were logged on RailMiles in total yesterday?

Railmiles has invented time travel! 😃

(For those who don’t know, the train’s arrival time auto-completes when you enter original, destination, date and departure time…)

It is an iPhone 5x zoom picture, but it’s also clearly visible with the naked eye.

However, line speed is only 40mph for passenger trains and 20mph for freight; and the rollercoaster appearance isn’t noticeable as a passenger.

I just shared a big update on my mushroom foraging guide I’m writing 🙌 There’s a free video on Patreon patreon.com/luke_venechuk

Pretty sure I used the phrase “hell yeah” more than any other mushroom guide author ✍️

Near Tczew, the railway passes over the Wisła river and associated flood plain, across a long viaduct. The adjacent road viaduct was not rebuilt after war damage.

Apologies for the reflections in the video, the sun was at a most inconvenient angle!

Malbork Castle is the biggest brick-built castle in Europe, and very interesting to visit. Also very close to the railway!

Thanks to the very conveniently-timed freight train here 🙄

It’s not the NMT, it’s one of the other IM rakes which used to be TnT 37s or 67s.

Formed of Mk 2 vehicles, though the generator van looks like it might be a Mk 1.

A train in the dark…

1Q22 0743 Derby RTC to Bristol Kingsland Road is seen just before 10pm, close to the end of its journey, passing both ways between Filton and Hallen Marsh.

Power cars 43257/43274 top-n-tail the PLPR3 rake, including TRC 999550, the last loco-hauled Mk2 built for BR.
