I thought the depiction of the school in Adolescence was a fairly good representation of a bad school. But I can’t get behind the idea that someone from the lower school, not safeguarding trained would show the police round and supervise interviews.

Today, did I walking into my partners online meeting holding the baby and shouting “I need a wee!”?
Yes. Yes I did. #matleave
This is what I collect my stuff to take to the charity shop. When it is full, off I pop. Everytime they complain that I want to keep the box and bag. Do I need to donate the containers each time? Is this the etiquette?
If I still had to do mock marking in December I think I would have left teaching by now.
My daughter, when asked to draw something Christmassy, drew rain. I can see why.
Today my 3 year old painted some stones and then this evening we dropped them by our neighbours houses, that had lights on them, as a thank you (thank you was written on it). It was mainly her idea. So lovely!
I have put my tree up today - way earlier than I normally would and I feel deeply uncomfortable about it.
I have been to a few open days as a parent now. And my goodness some of the Head’s presentations are bad in very basic ways. Such a red flag.
Good luck!
I have always said this issue is my main issue in teaching.
And then I went home and did all the work I was meant to have done that day and thanked all those that covered for me.
This must happen all the time for various different causes and it is maddening!
I could tell they found me frustrating as I shot down their ideas (nationally centralised ppt resources for everyone for e.g!). And afterwards when I suggested to the organisers that far more insight would be needed before coming up with solutions, they called me short sighted and narrow minded.
Every now and then I remember when I was sent by my school to a business to help them with a team building CSR day where they, after talking to a teacher for 20 mins, were going to reform teacher workload. The team with the best idea would win.
My newborn, for some reason, would only fall asleep to this.
Can’t wait to read it! Love the original!
Book cover - Bennie Kara Nuthall's The Hidden Lives of Learners In Action, part of the In Action series edited by Tom Sherrington and illustrated by Oliver Caviglioli and published by John Catt.
I've been so excited to tell you about this one and now I can! I've been secretly writing an In Action book based on the work of Graham Nuthall and look, it is has a cover and a release date! It's a long way off yet, but do have a check it out... www.johncattbookshop.com/products/nut...
I love ordering flowers from a florist. It is a such a positive experience compared to buying something online from a faceless company, that is generic and comes in a box. Business and recipient are both delighted with your order.
A total big bear of mine!
My number 1 frustrating thing I see in lessons is teachers asking students to guess what they are thinking. The same old students guess, wrongly. Teacher has to politely undo that. Repeat. Argh! Just tell them, check they understand, then get them to do something with that info.
Get the buckets ready 🤮
The time I save in not deep marking and calculating grades of work I loose in deep holistic thought about each student and the capabilities they have shown me to date. And I prefer that at least!
Yes, I think most dept just base predictions of one assessment. Yet I can always point to a number pieces of evidence that inform my judgement.
For me our data drops are teacher predictions which can be informed by whatever we like. This means I can assess how I like, when I like and not give grades on these assessments. 👍🏻
A much needed resource especially considering the popularity of psychology and the lack of routes into teaching psychology.
Congratulations!! Pre-ordered!
I am hating this Christmas creep because it is stealing from autumn. I Iove autumn!
