A crochet Hydra with a plesiosaur-style flippered body and three crested heads. The back is covered in crystals and pearls.
A rainbow crochet Hydra with a sauropod-style body with four thick legs and a long tail. It has three long necks.
Oh yeah, publishing my Hydra amigurumi pattern! π§Ά
Two curved antlers or horns that look like aged skeletal spines.
An in-progress Kirin pattern wearing the half-painted bone horns.
Modeling & painting new creature bits & pieces.
A black card displaying 10 pairs of painted safety eyes for crochet creatures.
Long overdue for an update, oops! Let's see what I've been up to.
Filling safety orders, of course. ππ
It was pretty funny! They reached out to me because they were doing a little grid of different crochet dragons, but by the time I responded they had already filled the spots. Then they were like, how about we do this other feature on you? Which was way better!
A page from Simply Crochet magazine, May 2025, showing Bex and her crochet creatures.
Hey, I'm in a magazine! π Simply Crochet did a lil' feature on me for their May issue! π§Ά #crochet
Today's entry into "weird stuff I make with my son," here's my crochet interpretation of his "Airacuda," a sharp-toothed, poison-tailed flying beast with scaly wings and four red eyes. π§Ά
And then I had to learn about pterodactyl wings, which it turns out are very strange? They're not like bat wings or (bat-like) dragon wings where elongated fingers from the wing spars. They have little grippy fingers and then a looooooong pinkie where the wing membrane attaches. Now to design it...
A crochet raptor/pterosaur kind of creature with taloned back legs and a vulture-like neck.
A child's drawing of a winged, four-eyed creature flying between jagged mountains.
A fun thing about this fantasy creatures collab with my 9yo son is that it challenges me to figure out crochet solutions for new shapes. Like this Airacuda ("like barracuda, but in the air") required a new body and neck design, a modification to my usual paw foot, and now I gotta make the wings π€

Feeling sad, doin' a weekend pattern sale (on Etsy & Rav, links in bio). π§Ά Average 5β review, they gotta be good!
Thank you! (Sorry for the really slow response - have been on a work trip all week!).
The DRAMA.
I occasionally sell finished items! But usually only when they are piling up and I'm motivated to get them listed π
Dress for the job you want, bb.
He's SO good with names, I am always delighted!
Thanks!
A crochet jackal-headed creature with a long, lithe body. It has a mottled brown body with a black head and lower limbs. Its erect jackal ears are slightly fluffy. It has a long-haired black tail and black skeletal antlers. It is standing on a rock against a backdrop of dried leaves.

My 8yo son is his Mama's boy and is very into creating fantasy worlds, so we decided to team up: he makes fantasy world maps, and I crochet the creatures who live in his magical lands. This is our first collaboration, which he has named the Sandstalker!
Thanks!

Do you think they'll like the amended version? π
Fibre Faery Friday β¨πβ¨ with the new Fae blend. A super soft marriage of Cormo, Corriedale, BFL, Falkland and silk. I couldnβt resist a rainbow β¨πβ¨ and letβs call it Faery Wings β¨π§ββοΈβ¨. Blended by Tom and Ellie @winghamwool β¨πβ¨.
You can find it in my @folksyhq shop where a sale is on too β¨πβ¨.
A long-time customer dug up an old IG post of some eyes I'd made and asked if I could do it again, so I said I'd try - and they came out even better! Might have to add these to the permanent lineup.

love to scroll through videos and comment βhell yeahβ on all the videos of people learning how to knit or crochet
Yes, I know exactly! It took 2 skeins. Malabrigo is, tbh, one of the more affordable fancy yarns. You can get skeins of Rios, Worsted, etc for like $15-20. Most of my stuff is around one for the body/head/limbs bc I am cheap and rarely buy two skeins of one color π€£
I wrote up a little bit about putting @bexcreatures.bsky.social 's horns on my dragons. I suppose I could have waited until I had pictures of the finished dragon, but I am not known for patience.
OMG, how did I miss that you bought my horns?!?!? They look so good on your dragon! The screws can definitely be fiddly. To be totally honest, I often just poke the post in and then glue them in place instead of messing around with the nut on the other side.
