If English people want to fight Farage and the menace of nationalism then they could do worse than embrace all the many good things about England.

I respect other people's rights to hold such religious beliefs as the wish. But the idea that a Syrian soldier in the Roman army who died 1800 years ago now lives in Heaven and intercedes with God on England's behalf strikes me as potentially somewhat farfetched.
Once you understand that the government isn’t working for the rich and entitled any more, all the media (owned by the rich and entitled) coverage makes complete sense.
Don't know if this was deliberate by Labour but an unusually brilliant move if so: the row will bring the PPB (and the remarks) to a much bigger audience than it would otherwise hit. And they can still run the "uncensored" ad online.
For decades, rich and powerful interests and their right-wing political allies have been executing a secret plot to buy our political system — and it may get a whole lot worse.

The cult of personality is very weird (esp. Corbyn) - like you I try to take a balanced view & don’t expect ‘perfection’ from public figures.
There seems to be two camps in accounts I interact with here; anti-Starmer & pro-Starmer. I'm in neither. When he's good IMO, I say so & when he's bad, I call it. Like all of us, he has good and bad traits so in my view it's a false dichotomy to be always pro or anti. Plus He's better than any Tory
Anyway, Happy St George's Day to all who celebrate.
I've been thinking about English things I love, and as it coincides with Shakespeare's purported birthday (and death day), here's the sweet spot.

Is Henry Zeffman, the chief political correspondent of the BBC Politics team, in the pay of the Tory party or is he simply following the orders of his boss Robbie Gibb? There probably has been a version of the evidence given by a version of Robbins ... 1/8
Their outrage misses a fundamental truth that too few people grasped at the time: when we were in the EU, we actually had a far better handle on migration than we do now.

“Reform plagued by vetting issues”
Candidates found to have “grotesque” views.
Come on. It’s not the vetting, is it.
It’s the party. Whatever they do, they’ll always attract the racists, homophobes, misogynists and haters. Because that’s Farage. That’s Reform.

Used up:
* 45% of Precision Strike Missiles
* 50% of THAAD interceptors
* 50% of Patriot air defence missiles
* Tomahawks and long-range missiles down by 20–30%
This creates a “near-term risk” for any conflict with a major power like China.

"Asked why New Zealand does not suffer from the rage of older white men like in other western Anglo countries, PM Jacinda Adern replied, 'Because we've never allowed Rupert Murdoch to set up a media outlet here The guy has wreaked havoc on civil society in (the) US," a tweet re-shared on
She's not wrong!
"We accidentally made an animated graphic for Reform and then did a party political broadcast for them by mistake."
I hope the takeover of InfoWars by @theonion.com and @timheidecker.bsky.social that resulted from the bankruptcy brought on by Alex Jones’ evil attacks on the victims of Sandy Hook brings you as much joy as it does me.

Well that’ll be Brexit. And rightwingers being told by their money men that there’d be votes in it for them.
Voting Reform is the equivalent of voting twice for Trump.
It is an act of pure ignorance, or racism, or both.
And, as we all know, it leads nowhere good.
Please god UK. Do not let that happen. Learn from our mistakes. Learn from America’s mistakes.
Just get your shit together.
Screenshot of a tweet: God Save Great Britain & @GSGB01 WOW: The NHS has ordered staff not to use the phrase 'It's raining cats & dogs' in fear of upsetting people from other cultures and religion. Britain has gone absolutely
Screenshot of a tweet: @Jenny_1884 The NHS has ordered staff not to use the term "It's raining cats & dogs" as it may offend foreigners. Tough If you don't like it jog on is what I think The NHS needs to get back to concentrating on making people better & not being more concerned about offending
For the love of God, could the "common sense" brigade PLEASE develop some actual COMMON SENSE?!
No, the NHS has not ordered staff not to use the term "it's raining cats and dogs" for fear of either upsetting or offending anyone...
Please engage your brains for a minute🙏

👏 Neil Kinnock: “The special relationship has to ultimately mean rejoining the European Union – or to be more accurate and forward-looking in a changed and changing Europe, it has to mean joining again.”

Similarly, historians will retch at Zelensky’s treatment in the Oval Office & beyond. We all moved on to the next abomination without even stopping for sandwiches…
It’s not that these people still exist. That’s just biology. It’s that they are still being paid to shit in their own hands & start clapping.
Good move!
And can I just add… No one at Palantir seems to be able to read or write.
“We must resist the shallow temptation of a vacant and hollow pluralism”
Take out the vapid tautologies and you get:
“We must resist pluralism”
Great tell.
