April 13, 2026 On April 12, the day of Hungary’s parliamentary elections, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) posted on social media that it was closely watching the election and stood firmly behind ...

in the wake of Orbán’s massive defeat, if Dems aren’t shouting from every rooftop how Rs should never be allowed this much power again…. it’s hard to see how we survive this.

As she often does, reading @hcrichardson.bsky.social‘s letter this morning gives me some hope that we will.

Trump was “uniquely positioned to” only care about himself and attempt to make as much money for himself as possible. WRT being an intellectual, it’s hard to believe you would write the words you did above.

window-dressing confirmed. am guessing Elon Musk (et al) isn’t a signatory and has never cared about how things “should be executed in a manner that complies…” with anyone’s vision but his own

i played too many rock shows in phoenix on tours over the years. once a club had “hippie A/C” to keep everyone cool in July: a waterlogged hay bail with a fan blowing over it. i maybe died a little that night.

if one took a census of pop music in 3, there’s maybe more in 3/4 because it’s duple. But most pop is in 4/4.

you can have 12/32: twelve thirty-second notes in a measure — the 32nd note gets the beat. 23/8; 14/16, etc. Composers who write those time signatures are what we call “annoying” and “what the fük? why!?”

3 weeks ago 2 0 0 0

the bottom number in each time signature refers to the rhythmic value that is being counted (the “beat”): 6/8 time the 8th note gets the beat; 3/4 time the quarter note gets the beat…. so there are 3 quarter notes in each measure of 3/4; 4 quarters in each measure of 4/4, etc.

3 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

3/4 is a “simple time signature” whose beats are divided (usually) in 2s: One 2 TWO 2 THREE 2. same goes for 2/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 — there’s more to it but that’s “basics”… Compound time is felt differently because of the division of the beats. The best example above is the West Side Story example.

3 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

6/8 is a “compound time signature” as is 9/8, 12/8, 15/8 etc. The top number (the number of beats in a measure) is divisible by 3…. and each of those is broken down further into 3s. So 6 is felt in 2 (ONE 2 3 TWO 2 3); 9 is felt in 3 (ONE 2 3 TWO 2 3 THREE 2 3); 12 is felt in 4…. 15 is felt in 5…

thanks, Guardian. i’ve been trying to get a concise report of this accident; no thanks to the NYT, whose reporting is scattered amongst a trove of updates and (when i was reading this morning) no full report. our flight had taken off from LGA shortly before this happened. so shocking and horrific.

Friday’s press gaggle. Barely exaggerated: at 12:03 PM, President Trump told reporters he wanted a ceasefire with Iran. At 12:05 he declared victory. At 12:07 he announced he was sending Marines. At 12:08 he said no boots on the ground. At 12:11 he said he did not want a ceasefire. At 12:16 he declared victory again. At 12:17 he asked for a ceasefire. At 12:23 he told NATO they were cowards. At 12:29 he said Iran was begging for a ceasefire. At 12:31 he said everything was perfect. At 12:36 he said $500 oil was a good thing. At 12:37 he demanded Iran open Hormuz. At 12:39 he said Hormuz was never closed. At 12:41 he said the US was not at war with Iran. At 12:42 he declared victory in Iran.

By 3:43 PM he told CBS he doesn’t want a ceasefire. By 5:13 PM - 13 minutes after futures markets closed for the weekend, in a coincidence that should be studied in every securities fraud textbook - he posted on Truth Social that the US is “getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts”. The S&P reversed more than 1% in seconds. QQQ had already surged 1.1% in the 80 minutes before the announcement,a

Astonishing. The goal of our war is now to undo the effect of the war we started.

Gosh, if only we could rewind to, say, four weeks ago when the Strait of Hormuz was open and normal!

“Tehran is burning. And smoke has filled the streets. It’s impossible to drive out of the city right now and even with the windows closed, heavy smoke is making its way inside."

Read every word.

ya exactly. not sure why the question is hard to answer. he was on the A-Team, was awesome, beat up and caught bad guys and dedicated himself to “helping those in need.” Great answer to give a kid!
