Today’s my birthday.
I’m now 36, and 🧊 shot a man only a year older than me for no justifiable reason— just like they did with Renee Good and countless others who did not make the news.
My heart hurts so much every day.

i honestly did not know i had mono until after jenni tested positive for it (and i had probably given it to her). i thought i was tired because my teaching schedule last year was insane.
having a panic attack at 1 am because the world is so horrible and on top of that i am legit scared for my mom’s safety because she is insisting on traveling to china to see my grandmother but i’m terrified that something will happen she tries to return even though she’s a naturalized citizen 🙃
lol i had mono last year/early 2025 and i am more tired than when i had mono
i have had such a wild and exhausting week that it is taking all my strength not to fall asleep now and ruin my sleep schedule 💀
school starts at 8:10 and i try to get to work by 7:30 lol
My outfit garnered a “let me guess, you’re a teacher, right?” reaction from the MBTA bus driver at 7:20 am.
One of my beginner ELL first graders was trying to ask a teacher to help sharpen his pencil because it was dull. He pointed to the pencil tip and said solemnly, “It baby.” 😭
I think I just witnessed a meet-cute 😂 I was on the bus and it started moving before a guy sat down and he fell into the lap of the alternative looking guy next to his intended seat. And they were SERIOUSLY vibing and asking questions about how long they’ve lived in the neighborhood. 👀
My contribution to our rough NYC itinerary is a long-ass list of places I want to eat.

I googled “the beaches band queer” because I listened to the first verse of their cover to “Ultimate” on the Freakier Friday soundtrack and needed to know.

I have no plans to travel internationally in the near future but my mom told me that last time she went to canada my first cousin once removed’s teenaged daughters excitedly asked her if i was there with her 😭

okay so the world sucks but i bumped into one of my former students at the library today. he was in my 7th grade advisory and science class (when COVID hit). super sweet, amazing theatre kid. he’s going to college in the fall.
he was tutoring a student and was so so sweet 😭
I saw one of my rising 6th grader students on the bus today! He greeted me and I was so relieved to see that he’s okay.
The world is so awful right now. I never know when I am going to see a student of their family for the last time
depression about the world + heatwave= not wanting to eat anything, which is bad for our farmshare
Are people just getting struck by lightning more or is the algorithm trying to get me to be paranoid?
So at what point do I simply throw away (recycle??) or give away the mysterious cables and cords in my closet that have stayed untouched since we moved into this house a few years ago? i’m afraid that the minute they’re gone from this house. I’ll figure out what they’re for and I’ll need them.
it is SO COOL to teach kids how to read (and for many, to read in their second or third language!). all my kiddos love books and learning so i’m crossing my fingers 🤞
I swear I am doing my best to help children with literacy and comprehension 😭 But that is so depressing
literally watching the movie in different languages for practice. already watched it in mandarin and now watching it in spanish. at this point, i'll probably go through all the languages available that my students speak
k-pop demon hunters is the only thing keeping me sane right now. it’s such a spiritual successor to sailor moon.
i love that girls get to see that you can be any kind of girl you want.
also, always a sucker for found/chosen families 💖
