US elites decided, like a school of fish, that climate concern is old, boring, "woke," square, not hip & popular any more. As usual, it was based almost entirely on internal elite dynamics. It had nothing to do with the actual public, which is more concerned than ever.
This is, of course, an implicit admission of liability for the climate crisis.
Infowars/Onion combo logo in rainbow saying “I support the onion’s hostile media takeover.”
It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.
Republicans know they are about to lose the House and are trying to give Big Oil its holy grail: legal immunity from any futures actions that would hold the industry responsible for the climate crisis it knowingly caused and is making worse every day.

There is Truth and Beauty in the universe, after all.
Well I have a lot to learn. Are almond farmers getting paid for CDR?
From the Department of Stupid News:
A machine that can go faster than a human!!!
Uh, that happened more than 100 years ago, with the invention of the automobile.
Who is good at this? Representstive @ocasio-cortez.house.gov is!
Who heads up the Mara Lago Mafia? Well, the Mara Lago Mafia Don, of course!
@democrats.senate.gov, I made a little improvement on Senator Osshoff’s brilliance. Yours to use!
Is there anything that reveals the idiocy of Trump’s hatred of wind power more than this foolishness?
Yes I think we agree on deep burial. What tripped me up was the science of soil carbon, the effects of rainfall, wind, erosion on permanence. I loved the idea of “make soil healthy and sequester carbon,” but it wasn’t clear there were two birds to kill with one stone.
Hat tip to @jamiedemarco.bsky.social and @chesapeakeclimate.bsky.social. Always up to “good trouble.”
Just recorded a great pod, and I gotta say ... solar and batteries are going to win. They are the main dish. Everything else is a side dish. In 10 years, you won't be able to find anyone who disagrees with this.
I have a separate meter for my EV and PHEV and only charge with Xcel offpeak power (cheap!) and I have wind RECs as part of my bill. I have not really studied the bills though.
I engaged on biochar as carbon removal and soil health during 2020-2022, and kept coming up against concerns of measurement and verification and permanance. Seeing innovators like Carba addressing permanence by deep deposits. Mike Tidwell’s book has real life drama about whole tree burial.
I always thought the electric company should buy and own the battery in the school buses, making the bus MUCH more affordable for the schools. A bus sits idle all summer and utility could cycle the batteries to their hearts content to meet summer peaks, and not worry if they are full in the morning!
Hear hear. Been thinking that original gasbag opEd should have never mentioned bike lanes since they have nothing to do with Mpls problems.
Watch this interaction between Congresswoman @delauro.house.gov and @departmentofenergy.bsky.social Secretary Chris Wright.
Fifth Amendment, equal protection under the law, does not allow cancellation of projects because they are in blue states.
Thanks for posting this, BGA. “Equal protection under the law.”
No surprise DOE Secretary Chris Wright couldn’t give a straight answer when being pressed about illegally cutting #cleanenergy funding to blue states this week.
These actions aren’t saving us money; they’re stunting our chances at affordability, job growth, and healthier communities.
A favorite energy voice in the US Congress on oil prices and the US industry, Trump’s war, the Saudis, and corruption.
Definition of hubris: JD Vance, a Catholic convert of less than a decade, lecturing Pope Leo on theology and Augustinian “just war” theory, a pope with a PhD in canonical theology, who was the head of the Augustinian order, WHILE visiting the birthplace of Saint Augustine.
Bro, just stop.
Senator Tina Smith is defending America’s most visited wilderness—-a million acres of lakes, connected only by footpaths or portages, not built by forest rangers, but by native people over millenium and voyageur traders over centuries, enjoyed by campers and paddlers over decades.
Truly remarkable how many people have told the Pope, in some way or another, to "shut up and dribble." Or corrected him on the Bible, despite their thin education on theology. Or told him to stay out of US affairs, despite him being a US citizen. The hubris is amazing.
If you cannot tell, you should consult your physician.
Governor Pritzker and Pope Leo in Oct. 2025.
The Pope lifts his voice as part of a higher calling - one centered on peace and the preservation of human life.
Leo: "The message of the church, the message of the gospel -- blessed are the peacemakers. I do not look at my role as being political. I don't want to get into a debate with him. I don't think the message of the gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing."
Democracy won in Hungary. Trump, Vance, Rubio lost, especially Vance.
When it comes to the energy transition I'm a glass half full person.
I know: plenty of people would say that's terribly naive. They point to the scale of the challenge. They point to vested interests. They point to hard-to-abate sectors.
And they're not wrong. But here's what they miss.
