Ah. But where is your goat cheese pizza?

"This line of inquiry fundamentally misunderstands the role of political access journalism, publishing, and, perhaps most critically of all, some pretty sweet jacket design."

I love the Yomiuri’s framing of this: ‘expressed a desire to learn Japanese, and oh yeah, made some comments about Pearl Harbor’

Reporter: Why didn't you notify Japan that you were going to attack Iran?
Trump next to the Japanese PM:
"Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Habour? You believe in surprise I think much more so than us."
Also worth noting that it was developed in Japan where elder care is a big concern given the aging population

The Health and Human Services secretary seems as committed to swimming in jeans as he is to destroying the nation’s immune system.

"Our standing rule is: If one of us brings up using GenAI in any of our work, then it's safe to assume we've been assimilated by The Thing and should be burned alive by Kurt Russell," said a game design consultant in the US.

Another survey showing that ideological labels don't have the same "stickiness" for young Japanese voters. (Converse 1964 rules everything around me.)

But they don’t appear to have made any effort to prevent misuse from happening again and they don’t appear to be going out of their way to stop ICE or anyone else from misusing their product
The manufacturer knows you’re gonna do that anyway and just puts that on their so they’re not liable. NEC’s face recog algorithm showed up several years ago in a one misrecognition case in MI

More reporting from wired on cbp/ice’s mobile fortify developed by NEC. As they write, manufacturers like NEC are quick to note that their products aren’t actual meant to positively ID. But this is like the warning on q-tips not to shove them in your ears

To all the non-academics who don't understand the point of academic freedom and don't care to learn about it, let me give you a factor you might care about:

Cops were frequently getting caught planting drugs in 2017 because body cameras were new and many of them didn't understand how the technology worked.
When cops hit "record" it saved the 30 seconds from *before* they hit the button. Eventually, they figured it out.

A letter to the director of the CIA from Senator Ron Wyden saying he has sent a classified letter that expressed concerns.
This is how Sen. Ron Wyden clues the public into activity that he finds extremely alarming. He does a press release about a letter he sent to the director of the CIA that basically says, 'I want to make sure you saw the classified letter I sent early today.' www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/do...
