The Brown Family’s House St Helier Hove: watercolour and pencil from my exhibition Recollected Sunlight. A house where I spent most of my school Summer holidays in the 1950s just mucking about in their extensive back garden.

So, I accidentally bought another framed @ianarchie.bsky.social print... It's gorgeous and I love it...
Along with my other framed print, it is now one of my most treasured possessions...💙💙💙

I was fortunate enough to visit the Garden at La Pietra outside Florence in 1983 I was shown round by Harold Acton himself. This painting is of a more recent vintage. I did make a set of watercolours at the time which were published by Migneco & Smith. The Garden At La Pietra: acrylic on canvas

White Cloud, Blue Sky, White House, Strawberry Hill: watercolour and pencil. This conjunction of sky and suburbia was just the kind of thing I like to paint.

April, First Leaves The Garden St Margarets: watercolour and pencil. The view from my window and the new leaves are the same this morning, so new they are almost golden in colour not yet vivid green. Although the light this morning is flat and grey.

Early Morning Light In The Garden: watercolour and pencil. This is the view as I cross from the house to my studio every morning. On Spring or Summer days the light has this dazzling ecstatic quality, paired with the smells of Lilac, Roses, or freshly cut grass, I am truly blessed.
