With the genres you listed I don't think it's that much of a stretch and I don't see any reason why it can't work.
If you've got too much of a difference, like classical with thrash and gangsta rap or something, then I don't know if there's anyone who could pull it off.

I never realized how common it is for gen-x to try to avoid seeing Bloody Mary in a dark bathroom mirror even to this day.
I'm available for commissions! Do you need some art for an album/EP/single cover, podcast, social media, or just because? Email patrick(at)patrickkingart.com and let's make something great!
I also do logo/graphic and web design! Check out all my work at patrickkingart.com
No kidding! I would need to get the Suite or whatever the expensive version is, though, for my older stuff to work. Which in retrospect was kind of a waste but the tutorial I watched used those features.
Hm, so I can get 2 guns, 2 buckets of food, and maybe a sample pack or two!
I'm thinking about how to prepare for the apocalypse and realizing just how expensive that is. Just a pistol and a couple of months of MREs is going to be over a grand. For that kind of money I could get Ableton Live 12.
my remix of Runaways by The Midnight is now available over on YouTube! really proud of how this turned out, i hope you like it!

It's about time to plug my Spotify playlist. 100 synthwave (& related) artists with under 1k monthly listeners at the time of placement. I've also got about 20 spots open if anyone wants to submit something. One track per artist, no gen AI music.

That's insane. Where do people get these ideas from?
Reminds me of "Today" by the Smashing Pumpkins, I think that was about Billy Corgan getting through a creative block. It's always great to make a breakthrough!
Glad to hear that you were able to push through that! You have to just keep going. I'm still doing something nearly every day even though most of the time I don't want to lol
Good point!
Very true!
I have a number of tracks from last year still in production and it's been slow going. I still believe in them but it's made me wonder if I should still be doing this. Then one new idea really grabbed me and now I'm wondering if every release should be like that. It's just so easy in comparison.
A lot of people have turned internet conversations into songs but I think this is the best I've seen yet:

With everything happening in Minnesota and the US right now, I think it bears mentioning that all the major news outlets are complicit. We've seen the videos from multiple angles with our own eyes and they bullshit us right to our faces.
I did a synthwave over of this punk song by frick (abandcalledfrick.bandcamp.com/track/you) and I refused to do another vocal or guitar take, so this is just how it's going to be.

With the proliferation of AI music, the most immediate response that I can think of is to embrace imperfection, because it doesn't get any more human than that.
I think there's a balance to be struck between trying to master your craft and breaking the rules. You don't need to be perfect.

I just saw this photo of the linguist Yuri Knorozov, and this is the energy that I plan on taking with me into 2026.
I just saw a post that said that everyone has a sandwich that they think about for the rest of their lives. I was like, "no" but I realized I do.
It was an eggplant parmesan that a girl at a bar didn't finish and just gave to me. I was drunk but I remember how good it was. This was decades ago.
It's definitely the 40+ crowd still keeping FB in business lol
I have a FB account and it must have been 20 years since my last login
