Kinda hard to argue with that. Like these cancel student debt folks seem to have zero interest in what happens to the next generation of kids saddled with more debt. Just as long as they get theirs cancelled.

Biden suspended student loan payments, which is the most he could realistically do - and that's despite the fact this whole student loan abolition idea is a terrible on the merits.

Honestly he should start publicly taking some more moderate or right wing positions in Texas to increase his odds of winning.

The original post was talking about the aggressiveness of some leftists on here when you deviate at all from the orthodoxy. I never said I’m against youth gender transition, but skeptical and think it requires more rigor than has sometimes been the case in US. And this makes me a bigot and nazi?

Just an example of leftists on here punching to the center as hard as they can. While those in the center on that issue I think generally express a more reasoned take toward those on the left that disagree. In fact they generally just keep quiet.

Well most people, and the law, consider children to be a special class. There’s many things that society says kids aren’t allowed to do.

Try mentioning on here that you fully support anti-discrimination laws against trans adults, but are skeptical about many forms of youth gender medicine. You’ll literally be called the next Hitler.

But when reporters, groups or conservatives ask concrete policy questions what they gonna do? Will you allow fracking on federal lands? Do you support affirmative action in college admissions? Should we spend more on policing? Without moderate answers you'll fail at being cast as a moderate.

I think people do understand it, they just don't agree with it.

I don't think this works. Think of it from the other side. Would you feel more likely to vote for a Republican which held reactionary right-wing beliefs if they had cool messaging? It doesn't work well absent actual moderating. People see through it.

I think you could think of it on the flip-side - because it impacts so few people the harms of altering it aren't too impactful, while the political benefits of backing off of policy that seems racially discriminatory may be relatively large.
