MUSE @ Pinkpop 2000 is a legendary watch. Seeing early versions of classics from OoS like Plug in Baby is a refreshing change. And I'd forgotten how absolutly nuts Matt was in those early days. In fact I've never seen him quite so crazy. #muse @muse

Update: been slow on 2nd draft but speeding up now. About 80% done! Original aim of end of year won't happen but I am still hoping for end of Jan to have my novel complete!
Update: haven't posted the last few games but finally lost... To a young child rated 300 points lower than me! I missed some obvious stuff.
So 10 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss, and a game tonight to bounce back.
This was an interesting position. He played Rad1 losing a pawn, but turned out it was the best move. The engine doesn't like f3! I think because the D pawn can get a lot of pressure. The eval is already -1.0 here.
This week, another near perfect game! Kept playing top moves and eventually went into the end game a pawn up.
2 more league games to report.
Last week, my first bad game. Blundered a pawn rushing a move, trying to pressure my low-on-time opp.
He got so low, he couldn't see a way through with opposite bishops (it wasn't that hard though) so got a 3-fold repetition. 6.5/7 points.

Daniel was not just someone I played thousands of games with on @chesscom and @lichess - he was a brilliant mind and a gifted teacher. Please forgive the tweets, but GM Nihal Sarin is extremely on the nose about Daniel Naroditsky's passing. I hope more of the chess community will make their feelings known about Vladimir Kramnik so we can protect other players and the game itself
I forget how crazy the stuff my kids come up with is. Luca just came up with this sequence - convert decimal digits of a number to binary then whole thing back to decimal - on his own. Wasn't surprised to see it was already in the #oeis. Couldve got one more in before he turns 6!
Started playing a bit of #chess960 - 40 games in
Both teams top of the league at this early stage too (Birmingham League Div 5 and Leamington League Div 4)
5th game of the season another easy win. 5/5. My pummelling last season has made this one a bit too easy. Sadly the 5 wins don't even pull back the point loss from 1 loss last season, as I was provisional. Maybe by the end of the season I can gain 150 points or so and get to 1600

4/4 now - not worth showing the whole game, my opp blundered the below. Beating generally lower rated players but still, an improvement on last season where I came back from an 8 year break and ended up on 1450, 250 points lower than the rating I previously had.
