Yeah I think there’s merit in this. Believe me, I’m not defending Gyok. But I think he’s been ok. But also we have zero attacking dynamism. We’re playing with the handbrake very much on. And have been for a while bar the odd performance here and there. This is on Arteta.

Trossard has been woeful and Saka is way below the expectations. Gyokeres meanwhile is almost at 20 goals. The blame should be on the system and style of play. He hasn’t done bad really given our attacking philosophy is in the toilet.

It’s just not the 9 alone though obviously. Anyone can see Our wing play has been dreadful. Agree I wish we had a world class 9 (gyokeres was never designed to deal with this burden alone) but if we had elite quality on the left with better form from Saka we’d have seen the difference.

That is obviously reductive. His positional play in the box is what you want from a number 9. But we have no technical quality to find him in dangerous positions, let alone move coherently up the pitch as a team to support that. If you’re not going to play to his strengths put Havertz in.

We haven’t exactly played to his strengths or built a team around him to help him thrive. That is on the manager (and berta tbh). We started two wingers who can’t carry a ball consistently. You can’t win a league starting that front three. So so poorly judged. We need to innovate now or it’s over.

Thought we were good. Structurally very disciplined. We just need to be patient. Green shoots imo.

Dynasties only really exist these days within state-funded / oil money death stars that have no problem with cooking the books. We are trying to maximise our model. I’m not sure a dynasty is possible as a result. Maybe some streaky runs. would love to win and retain a premier league. Tough though.

Winning it in the low block era would be some feat. Feel like winning it when defences were open, cavalier/swashbuckling forward play was the norm must surely have been less taxing in many respects.
