I mean nothing matters any more, but we used to live in a time where the law said that the President didn’t have the power to arbitrarily declare war. That was just Democratic elected representative government though, not this new Republican experiment in flushing the Constitution down the toilet

The Congress shall have Power To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water

And I understand, it’s hard to keep up with this guy. Today alone, he’s debased the office in countless ways that any previous President would have been impeached over

Like I said, I *do* support renaming Deer Island after him

He’s demanding that New York rename various landmarks after Dear Leader Big Huuuge Memberman manly man in order to receive funds they are already entitled to

When Dems take the House in the fall, I hope we finally see the same level of accountability on this side of the pond

In the UK (where the rule of law still applies), the latest Epstein Files tranche is quite possibly going to bring down the entire government over the “biggest scandal in a hundred years”. Meanwhile, if the same happened here it would be just another day of the current US Administration

To be fair, I will accept renaming the municipal facility on Deer Island the Donald John Trump Dear Leader Island sewage treatment facility

I can’t wait to fly out of “Giant Dear Leader Manhood Bigly Big Huuuuge” airport (formerly Boston Logan)

If you name stuff after Dear Leader, the demands don’t stop, they only escalate. And we all know he doesn’t like escalators

Who in Boston isn’t excited to travel to the Dear Leader Back Bay train station in Leaderville (formerly “Boston”), take the Dear Leader Express (formerly “Acela”) to LeaderTown (formerly “New York City”), and enjoy all that Strong Bigly Big Leader man station has to offer?

She really doesn’t care though, do you? Or so goes the hoodie that was worn during the first presidency while they were rounding folks up in the streets to treat inhumanely

In Boston, they had to put up a Craigslist post to pay people to watch this movie. I suspect even then, they will struggle to find enough people to take money to watch it.

On the other hand, it sold out in two locations. Easiest way ever to decide never to visit those two locations as a tourist

Correcting the @nytimes.com headline:

Following a terrible tragedy, leading Democrats are considering doing their job for a change. But only considering it

This is deeply technical stuff. For example, “you might need to correctly disambiguate a giraffe from a camel” level of 3D chess thinking is required to understand this stuff

Certainly by about age 10, school age children may know many details of the geographical differences between Iceland and Greenland.

And by the age of 80 years, apparently it is possible that some people have learned there is a difference between the two countries. But only some people.

Time for Starmer to grow a spine and stop the pandering. Tell the class bully where to shove it. If he doesn’t like that, call his bluff

Talk to the Principal instead. It’s a good analogy for life. Sometimes that higher authority is a whole bloc of friends, maybe it’s even a tribunal or two

We’ve had a real thawing the past week or so in Massachusetts and most of the winter ice has melted. This tends to happen when sunshine comes. Sunshine is a great cure-all, also in terms of the law, where eventually everything comes out and those who do terrible things face justice under the law

The trouble is - as others have pointed out - the victims have standing to sue to compel the DOJ to do its job (as opposed to Congress, who may not have standing). And they will. And eventually even those horrible folks in majority of SCOTUS will have to do something they don’t like and uphold law

The key thing to remember about all the crazy news that is happening this week is that we still have not seen the release of the Epstein Files. I’m sure that has nothing to do with the threat of invasion of a NATO ally
