I've ranted about LLM "AI" elsewhere, and in replies, but to reiterate it in a thread that I can pin now:
One of the fundamentals of computer science is "Garbage In, Garbage Out". I learned this as a child, learning to program, over 40 years ago.
You cannot put bad data in, and get good data out.
Had a dream in which I did a thread of the names of all of Australia’s owl species in emoji form so stuff it, I may as well do that IRL
Freddie deserves to be in history this way

This is quite extraordinary- scientists set a kind of trap for AI chat bots by inventing a fake disease. AI told people it was real and… the deliberately bogus preprints started being cited in peer reviewed literature 🫣

A guy asking ChatGPT to review a series of fart sound effects and getting a serious kiss ass response that calls it atmospheric
I can't stop laughing at this post. It's perfect.
No idea why this account has hardly any followers.
I assume it was both slammed and shamed.
birdsrightsactivist has painted human babies and hidden them in the shrubbery.
That big staircase is just a slow burn murder plot.
We need at least 25 tickets sold for this event to go ahead, so all reposts are very much appreciated! Better yet, come along!

I rewatch the originals every now and again and admire the fight in RotJ more each time. Movies today are unwatchably dark. Two characters in black fighting on an almost black set and you could see absolutely everything that was going on. The lighting is exquisite.
Mine was “well, Darth Maul was great. Shouldn’t have killed him.” Though my favourite was AOTC where I walked out and said, “there was a really nice door in it” (and I still think the door is brilliant - I look the scene up sometimes on YouTube just to enjoy the door again).
Delighted that he essentially won Most Miffed.
Walks just make them fit.
Oh my god, the alt text is a gift. 😹
Thought you’d appreciate the poster, @kwertzy.bsky.social
The AI economy looks...really precarious. So @matteowong.bsky.social & I did a bunch of reporting to try to figure out what happens when a potential bubble collides with a war in Iran and a potential resource shortage. The answer is...arguably the most dire stuff i've heard from smart ppl in a while
He is MIFFED.
THERE ARE FOUR SOUPS
After cloning 1,200 mice over 20 years, Japanese scientists discovered there is a limit on how many times mammals can be cloned. The 58th generation all died, showing that without sex, we mammals go into "mutational meltdown".

right now kinda feels like that moment right after you trip and hear a bad snap in your ankle, right before you try putting weight on it
Honestly, at a certain point, I think you do need to justify it. No one occasion is a whole sentence. But when you are constantly letting your chosen community down, I think it’s okay for that community to ask why.
Perfect
A giant ox walks through a valley, it carries a city on its horns.
Been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately, so it feels like a good time to share my painting "Steady".
Two photos of white-footed dunnarts being held in someone’s hand from the article linked in the post. In the top photo the dunnart is biting the hand ferociously, in the second photo the dunnart is peering over the top of the person’s thumb with enormous, endearing eyes. The dunnart is about the same size and colour as a mouse, but with large bulging eyes, sharp teeth, and a pointed snout. The caption of the first photo says “A white-footed dunnart is a carnivore, feeding mainly on insects, pictured here at Murramarang National Park on the NSW south coast. (WWF: Vivianna Miritis)”. The caption of the second photo says “The white-footed dunnart is found in several states, pictured here on the NSW South Coast. (WWF: Vivianna Miritis)”.
Inside you there are two dunnarts

That feels like good whimsy.
Hello and welcome to my unboxing video
I still think about this a lot.
