Wann kommen wir endlich vom Grundrecht auf billigen Sprit und billiges Fliegen zum Grundrecht auf bezahlbare Mobilität für alle?
#Fairkehrswende jetzt!
Collage of four photos, featuring the workshop poster, a photo of the four organizers, a photo of one of the keynote speakers with her talk on pipelines as ambiguous objects, and a photo of an open space workshop led by Anna Seidel.
Some impressions of day 2 of the workshop "Netze: Infrastrukturen der Energie" @humboldtuni.bsky.social. Many thanks to @antoniavillinger.bsky.social, @victoriaherche.bsky.social, Anna Seidel & Kira Jürjens for the organization!
Collage of four photos showing people walking toward the Technikmuseum, people standing before the entrance of the exhibition Das Netz, the poster for the exhibition Carbon Culture and a group of people clapping next to an installation.
Some impressions from the 1. day of the workshop "Netze: Infrastrukturen der Energie"/"Networks: #EnergyInfrastructures". We visited the exhibitions "Das Netz" + #CarbonCulture at the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin. What a wonderful group of people the "Network Energy & Literature" has assembled!
Cover of The Safekeep by Yael van der Houden
Finally listened to 'The #Safekeep', which a friend recommended to me months ago. I found the main character pretty annoying & saw the twist coming from miles away but that didn't make it a less entertaining read. Would recommend it for people interested in #queer #historicalfiction
Holding the book "a wood of one's own" by Ruth Pavey in front of a tree
3 new books on trees!🌳
The Non-Human is a big current paradigm in #Ecocriticism / #LiteraryStudies - here's some new reading material for you.
This memoir-cum-local history by Ruth Pavey explores her journey of planting "a wood of one's own" in the British countryside in #Somerset
#History #Memoir
This looks sooo cool. I'm really excited to see it together with all of you!

#Frühling in Köln! Krokusse und Kamelien!
#Spring in Cologne! Crocuses and Camelias!
It is so important to keep hammering in this point. People always ask me why I would have to go visit archives - why not just look at a scan? Because they haven’t been scanned! And they are never going to be! There are millions & millions of pieces of paper in every archive.
Photo collage of 1. RikeScheffler talking to Alhierd Bacharevic, 2. Rike Scheffler talking to Joyelle McSweeney, 3. all the writers and their translators on stage with Rike Scheffler and Uljana Wolf. A photo of Rike, Joyelle, and myself in front of the Poetica 11 Logo.
A few impressions from last week's #Poetica11, a literary festival hosted every year at the @unicologne.bsky.social & in the city. This year, I got to collaborate with Rike Scheffler for a panel discussion with the Poetica poets & by helping to bring to Cologne US poet @joyellemcsweeney.bsky.social.
Did you know that 2/3 of Americans are at least “somewhat worried” about global warming -- but 85% of Americans either underestimate how many others are worried, or don’t know enough to say?
This key misunderstanding tanks our sense of collective efficacy. How do we overcome it? Talk about it!

Today, out conference on #AnthropoceneNecropoetics continued with two panels l, focusing, first, on Indigenous perspectives and Settler #Necropolitics and, second, on the eco-logics of necropolitics & questions of history, followed by a panel discussions with this year's # #Poetica poets.

Joyelle McSweeney speaking about artist Eva Hesse

Marata Werbanowska responding to a question of Lynn Keller participating via Zoom
Yesterday, the conference took off with a mind-bogglingly rich keynote by @joyellemcsweeney.bsky.social who spoke about many things beside her suggestive idea of #necropastoral. We then continued our discussion with a panel on "Ruination, Resignation, Renewal."
Conference poster composed of lines and textures.
Starting @unicologne.bsky.social : The DFG-funded conference on "Anthropocene #Necropoetics: Empire, Violence, and Ecological Ruin in US #Poetry" that I'm organizing with Mahshid Mayar. So exciting! #EnvHum #AmericanStudies
Cover if Forrest's Daughters of a Coral Dawn.
I love Joanna Russ's book. Another favorite of mine is Katherine V. Forrest's /Daughters of a Choral Dawn/ and it's sequels. But if you haven't read the other books in Charnas's #HoldfastChronicles, I would recommend those, too.
I think Macpherson's /The Cambridge Introduction to Margaret Atwood/ (2010) could be suitable for Abiturient:innen, at least in parts. It's not overladen with references to other scholars.
A collage of six books: Holgate's /Sojourn in the City of Amalgamation/, Jack London's /The Iron Heel/… Sinclair Lewis's /It Can't Happen Here/, Suzy McKee Charnas's /Walk to the End of the World/, Atwood's /The Handmaid's Tale/, and Marge Piercy's /Woman on the Edge of Time/
These are the books I discussed in my talk on "Dystopias of Reproductive Work in North Am. #SpeculativeFiction" this week. I'd recommend all of them to a wider audience, except /Sojourn/ (1835) which is viciously racist. Be advised though that all of them contain brutal violence, some of it sexual.
Collage of three photos: me at the train station, the cover of Suzy McKee Charnas's The Slave and the Free (Walk to the End of the World & Motherlines), and a chocolate cake
Earlier today I gave a talk (in German 😲) @ruhr-uni-bochum.de on "Dystopias of Reproductive Work in North American Speculative Fiction" in @nitzkesolvejg.bsky.social's super cool lecture class on "Dystopias of Work." 📚 I can recommend it. You get cake. 🍰 #CompLit #AmericanStudies #FeministSF #SFF

Close-up of a 10-cent piece and 3 tiny books. One of them carries the title "Whitman's Poems'
Received a "Old Library" DYI booknook as a Christmas present and started to assemble it over the weekend. One of the books in the library is "Whitman's Poems"! 😍

Yesterday,I attended the opening ceremony of the 5-year celebration of @euniwell.bsky.social, a 12-partner university alliance focused on human and ecological #Well-Being. We heard a wonderful talk by #Happiness researcher Lara Aknin & an amazing performance by the all-female vocal ensemble Aember 🤓
