Fair but I don’t think her speech that night is setting any agendas!

I agree! But do you think any of those names actually set agendas?

Hi Will big fan! But people like Suozzi and MGP who can win moderate districts, aren’t these people important to expand the tent? I don’t agree with everything they say but I’d rather there district be a D and not a R!

New @centeronbudget.bsky.social analysis of the draft GOP tax plan released yesterday:

Unsurprisingly, it provides enormous tax cuts for the wealthy—including an average annual $65k cut for the top 1%—while doing little for low- and moderate-income families in 2027 (and even less by 2029).

TIL that Tesla insiders (executives, board members, etc) have sold *1.46 million* Tesla shares over the past 12 months, and bought precisely *zero*

I think this captures the intersection of those topics best

whether someone reads books, informs themselves about the world, pays attention to current events, is a crucial indicator of political alignment

and that is just a really fuckin weird new thing for Democrats to sort out

I’m going to start an ongoing thread of all the good types of cops Trump/Musk are defunding.

First up, public corruption cops:

This administration is like a second pandemic. The biggest issue is all the avoidable deaths, but life is also marginally worse in a million little ways, and the foregone output (economic, academic, etc) will loom over us for decades to come

Annexation of Canada is all fun and games until it becomes the way Dems take back the senate

There’s going to be more informed, high-quality news and opinion than ever, but it’ll be behind paywalls and cater to college grads who want accurate information and won’t shape the discourse as much as emotional algo bait.

The top criminal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Washington quit today, citing pressure by the Trump administration to open what she viewed as an improper criminal probe of a federal contract.

E Street Cinema, independent movie theater in downtown D.C., to close Landmark’s E Street Cinema, a hub for indie, foreign and niche films, cited business struggles since the pandemic.

Awful, awful news.

E Street is the premiere location in DC for independent and foreign cinema, even if many seats and bathroom stalls were busted. I have been going there regularly for over twenty years.

This leaves a massive hole, and many local festivals will suffer.

Fuck.

Also not allowing Ukraine and Europe a seat at the table is ridiculous when you are the ones saying “these aren’t American interests”

Re Ukraine: the eventual deal will of course involve land concessions and a de-militarized zone but why do you make so many concessions so early? It’s sloppy. Same thing with nato membership

“When I think ‘progressive,’ I think of the ‘Squad,’” Mr. Morgan said, referring to the group of left-wing House members. “And when I think of ‘the Squad,’ I think of socialism, and when I think of socialism, I think of communism, and when I think of communism, I think of the downfall of countries.”

something happens and she gets on twitter and tiktok and bluesky and goes "here's what I think! here's what we should do!"

this is real, genuine leadership. taking a leadership role in the discourse, deciding things, explaining your decision. then other people say "look what she said"

Consider the logic of the alleged quid pro quo with Eric Adams: You can [allegedly] accept bribes so a foreign country can build and open an unsafe building in your city, so long as you help combat individual migrants, many of them non-criminal.

The Crisis of Democratic Governance State Democrats have failed to deliver what the American people want.

Consuming political content on TikTok is associated with being more Trump-y, more pro-Russia, and more antisemitic even after quite strong demographic/attitudinal controls.

From a content perspective R videos get more views than D and also R content is also more effective on per impression basis.
