An Ohio school district made a teacher take down a "Hate Has No Home Here" poster because they said it violated a state law against teaching about sexual orientation or gender identity without parental permission reason.com/2026/04/15/a...
Everything comes back to cranes these days. We measure size in "is it bigger than a crane or not?" An apple is not bigger than a crane. A dinosaur is. Trees? Sometimes. It's a very intricate system.
"What's jury duty?" — my 2-year-old
"Something mama has to go do today."
"Is it yucky?"
"Yeah."
"Mmm. (Long pause) Probably a crane built it."
Yeah I’ve basically never viewed anything except Reason’s videos

We generally revel in the kid stuff we get to re-experience with our kids but… jfc Disney on Ice was excruciating
Like identical. It’s amazing
We've had universal birthright citizenship for 127 years. If that's a "suicide pact," it's a hell of a slow suicide.

Frank is appalled and would like humans to please get their shit together.
Exposed but also covered? I don’t even understand what this means
everything here is right; the framing of this as some kind of scandal not only raises privacy concerns but it diminishes the impact of exposing the many, many real-ass scandals involving this administration
"There is plenty of legitimate fodder for criticism in Kristi Noem's record. No one needs to go digging into her husband's sex life for fuel... The Noems have enough to answer for. Let's not let a pair of balloon tits distract us from that."
I am saying that sort of tongue in cheek, but also not.
OK, I’m sorry, but you know I had to write a “don’t kink shame Bryon Noem” post reason.com/2026/04/01/t...
Everyone’s got a human trafficking vigilante complex these days (even Canadians!) youtube.com/shorts/3qyTr...
Two thoughts about this:
• This almost certainly does not win him points with any justice, and, if anything, will be seen as a negative.
• Because that is so clear, I almost think this is a move because the Trump admin knows this is a legal loser, so they best they can do is some politics.
This may be one of those cases where the right legal result protects unsavory people. In the long run, and especially in the current political environment, I can see this actually being a useful bulwark against efforts to restrict gender-affirming care.
And social shunning or exclusion should not rise to the level of "harm" that's legally actionable under forced labor statutes
An outrageous miscarriage of justice, and a very dangerous precedent
Advocating ideas or practices that people willingly sign on to should not count as human trafficking, even if those people later regret their participation reason.com/2026/03/30/o...
To suggest Facebook isn't safe because they, let's say, amplify disordered eating content requires a subjecting judgment call about whether eating disorder content is safe or unsafe.
And when the government declares certain kinds of content and publishing methods safe/unsafe, that's censorship.
WIRECUTTER Microplastics Are Everywhere. Here's How to Avoid Eating Them.
Ok step one is to make them look less delicious
Lolllll. I love this industry.
People always assume content moderation is easy. Remove the bad stuff. Keep the good stuff. The reality is that it's all a series of tradeoffs where every decision has problems, and the decisions *you* think are obvious, often turn out to have really negative consequences.
“For those underage or who have not confirmed their age, Apple will turn on Web Content Filter and Communication Safety, which will not only restrict access to certain apps or websites, but will also monitor messages, shared photo albums, AirDrop, and FaceTime calls for nudity.”
The perfect angle to make it look like I have blue horns coming out of my head.
The social media “addiction” verdict against Meta & Google is good news for personal injury lawyers and government censors but bad news for the rest of us reason.com/2026/03/26/a...
