戦後に作られた当用漢字表に入っていない漢字は、法律や公用文、新聞・雑誌などでは使えなくなりました。

その字が必要なときには「漏えい」（漏洩）のように仮名で書くか、「奇跡（奇蹟）」のように意味や発音が近い他の漢字に書き換えることに。

温泉地にある「間欠泉」もかつては「間歇泉」と書きました。

ただ、これを「歇」と同音の「欠」を置き換えたものと考えるのはいささか早計なのです。
