At seven years old, Pirata has only just learnt to sit on command. Why? Because until a few months ago, she was kept on a chain by her owner for YEARS. Here in my shelter, where she’s safe and loved, she’s very proud to show off her new skill.

While renovating my 1880 farmhouse, I found a hand written recipe for beef stew from 1919. I had to switch out lard for olive oil, but otherwise kept it the same. It was PERFECT. Definitely making it again.
