I gravitated toward the trackpoint way back in the 90s. Mouse all you want while never leaving the home row. It's not perfect for every task - but for typical mouse operations when coding, it works great for me.

New article on @hackaday-feed.bsky.social about Usagi Electric and how he's putting his Bendix G-15 to work!

Why does it work so well in at work in (gulp) msteams, and so terribly in discord? my gut feeling is that people are talking about things they're passionate about.
I wish there was a good solution.

I need music that i'm familiar with and enjoy to be able to focus. I've worked in a few very loud industries (loud 400hz fans and plenty of beeping). A good pair of noise cancelling headphones are my best friend. I do have tinnitus - so silence sounds like a failing CRT to me.

OK yeah so i've been working on a super-cool old school DRAM tester. it's mostly an excuse to take the new Raspberry Pi Pico 2 (RP2350) out for a spin. 🧵

Got Bad Apple playing pretty nicely on this 480x480 LCD! Display is driven by PIO from an RP2350. The board doesn’t have audio but it does have an I2C connector, so I borrowed that to do some simple PWM through my audio PMOD.

Apologies for the poor sound quality through my phone!

a digital caliper measuring the thickness of a coin cell (2.5mm) but the caliper is made of metal, obviously shorting out the coin cell.

fun fact! the numbers in coin cell part numbers are dimensions. a CR2025 is 20mm diameter and 2.5mm thick!
