We had some fantastic speakers at our annual Mental Health Research Group student conference. Very diverse range of topics covered, from burnout in mental health staff to approaches to deescalation in acute inpatient settings.

Yesterday we hosted the 2026 Mental Health Research Group Student Conference - a fantastic opportunity to showcase inspiring research and support the next generation of nurses and researchers.
🎤 Here are a few snapshots from our brilliant keynote speakers 🎤
New article from myself and colleagues exploring the feasibility of a cluster RCT of Method of Levels therapy delivered by care coordinators in early intervention in #psychosis services. Some promising findings but also some feasibility challenges to address. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Great to see this commentary published on why mental health nurses should care about oral health. @jpalmierclaus.bsky.social

Well done, Rob & team! A well-written and interesting read. I'm curious about possible solutions which allow care coordinators more time for supervision. Maybe if the long term efficiency of the MOL approach becomes evident to the administrators, it gains priority?
Hi Eva, thanks! Yes, I think if there is evidence that MOL makes a difference in practice (and can be implemented flexibly in the way we think it could be), hopefully, that will build a case that time and resources should be allocated to training/supervision. Did you have any thoughts on solutions?
Thanks Steph!

Due to high workloads, however, care coordinators struggled to attend Method of Levels supervision sessions, and this caused them to feel less confident about implementing the approach in practice. We need to find some way to address this issue before we move to a full evaluation trial.
Participants generally thought the approach could be a helpful way for service users to explore difficulties in more depth, enabling them to generate their own solutions to problems. Care coordinators also reported that they were able to integrate the approach into their routine practice.

I’m looking for academic researchers who research mental health and also (like me) have lived experience of mental ill health! Please share and get in touch if that’s you ❤️#academicsky @academic-chatter.bsky.social @mhrincubator.bsky.social @nihrspcr.bsky.social
New and important from @thementalelf.bsky.social: "This review has highlighted the critical lack of evidence supporting the use of surveillance technologies. #Oxevision has the potential to enable iatrogenic harm, however this is not being acknowledged". tinyurl.com/3jajvst6 #StopOxevision
A nice starter pack to introduce qualitative researchers to each other! Recommended : go.bsky.app/N6x825K
Looking for staff working in inpatient settings to take part in an interview, would be nice to have a Clinical Psychologist or Psychiatry to take part...

Thanks! Great to get your thoughts on this. Relapse is one of those terms that gets used a lot, but seems conceptually “slippery” to define.
Hi Steph, great to see you on here. I had a quick question, if you don’t mind. Are you distinguishing between “recurrence” and “relapse”? If so, how? I’ll read the paper as well, but would be interested in your take.
Hi BlueSky! My name is Steph. I’m a post-doc in Glasgow and am just finishing up first year of a three year fellowship developing support for fears of recurrence in psychosis.
Doing a wee introduction thread about me and my research. Would love to connect with others.
Should have said in my original post, these services were formally known as #IAPT
Please share if you're able to - it would be great to reach a wide audience with this opportunity.
Do you have experience of using NHS Talking Therapies?
We're looking for people to join a Lived Experience Advisory Panel for a new study that explores ways of giving patients more control over #therapy.

I’ve been reading this by Linda Gask. It’s a beautiful illustration of the oppression women experience in society which leads to some awful experiences in mental health care…

Thanks for the recommendation, Keir. Looking forward to reading this.
I’ve made a starter pack for people working in or advocating for mental health patient safety. I haven’t added everyone yet as I wasn’t sure who wanted attention drawn to their account so if you’d like to be added please reply
