Today was the 1 year anniversary of the DOGE-driven Reductions In Force (RIFs) at CDC. Thousands of our colleagues were fired without cause and without notice.
When photos started circulating of these whiteboards, I remember bawling my eyes out.

Today, we lost an incredible public health leader: Former CDC Director (1977-1983) William "Bill" Foege. He led CDC's efforts to eradicate Smallpox; he inspired MANY generations of public health workers, and he defended us to the end. ❤️🩹 www.nytimes.com/2026/01/24/u...
