Robert Saleh would the get back guy on the sideline to contain him in the draft room if this comes to pass.

Harmon might a trade back option as well.

1-11 Mykel Williams 2-43 Schwessinger 3-75 Jared Wilson 3-100 David Walker? What grade does PFF give that one?

Hard to assume that Drake will be back when he hasn’t given any evidence of that. Beal was drafted as a backup/ST guy and he’s been about that. Floyd is declining but he was at least out there. They need to have a plan to fill that spot with someone other than “maybe Beal or Jackson”.

All you had to do was wait a day for them to test your advice on Mac Jones.

Was anyone else in the running?

Agree. I keep waiting to see that they’ve signed Bosa, Allen and re-sign Greenlaw. Samuel would be a cherry on top. Hufanga getting 15 mil is crazy.

If they could solve the Brendel issue at center, they’d be in really good shape. I think there’s an argument that Puni could be a better RT and Colton the better RG. Membou would solidify them very well.

What is the best way to megaphone that message to Dem members of Congress? They need to say it loud and often.

Was there an athletic interior DT there in the third where you took Ferguson? That’d be my only quibble here otherwise this looks rock solid. Membou would start immediately. I wonder if they could trade back at all and still get him. Graham or Will Johnson are my first choices there.

You can extend this trend to Ray and Hicks and even Jung Hoo last year too. Guys who weren’t quite ready but are primed for a jump this year. Jerar would be the story of the year if he channels Garcia in some way.

@andrewbaggarly.bsky.social Hey Baggs, any plans to do an article on Hadi Raad before the season starts? He, Minasian, Winn and JP Martinez seem like the key hires that Posey has made.

‘Headed home to go work on the Purdy contract’ was my hoped implication there.

Is this noteworthy Matt?

Then I just realized I was just trying to write your ‘Best Case Scenario’ article for 2025. When’s that coming?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

@grantbrisbee.bsky.social I started thinking about scenarios that could raise the floor for the Giants this year. One of them was 2025 Luciano channeling 2024 Ramos. One of them was Harrison/Hicks combining for 250 innings and being worthy of an AS bid.

My opening day lineup would be Wade Adames Lee Chapman Ramos Yaz Encarnacion (DH) Bailey Fitz

This looks about spot on in my view. Only change I might make is Beck in place of Trevino unless Trevino throws like the A’s version.

Freed up salary should be on this tree somewhere.

Does Posey need to make a trade to solidify the roster? Do you sense there’s anyone currently on the roster that might be a surprise trade candidate?

Do you get the sense that Kyle would want to have someone in mind at DC or would want to open up an interview process to get some new perspectives?

@mattbarrows.bsky.social Maybe a question for the mailbag Matt, but if this was September 2025, who do you think the team wants starting at both safety spots?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

@timkawakami.bsky.social your Moody point on the last +/- with Barrows really holds up if you look at Ryland. Over drafted by the Pats but looks fine with the Cardinals.

Baggs do you get the sense that Posey is interested in any bats in particular? Few guys that would be odd positional fits but would really boost this offense.

Plus the opt out after two years. You’ve mentioned Snell wasn’t a long term Posey type guy. Burnes for potentially two years only also makes this less palatable.

Matt if you look at the Lions, Eagles and Vikings the thing that stands out is the offensive lines that create running lanes consistently. Does Kyle recognize the need to add talent to a group that is talent deficient at multiple spots?
