In my riding, Halifax, the conservatives will not win : if we elect the liberal we get a rookie backbencher, if we elect NDP we get an effective opposition member ( and also maybe a good partner in a minority situation).
Millions of Canadians will still vote NDP, and they deserve representation.

My worry is that a poor understanding of the electoral system could lead to a rout. This may be a scenario where the NDP loses official party status and that would have a bad effect on our electoral landscape.

If people only vote for/elect red or blue, opposition in parliament will be nothing but partisan attacks, and committee work will only be obstructionist.
This does not lead to good government.
Don’t give in to reductionism.
Look at the devolution of the US govt.
